Brilliant celebratory dinner with the folks chilli chicken, lamb sekuwa and goat curry were highlights. Friendly helpful staff. Highly recommend. Note no longer located in mt lawley now in Subiaco square.
Firstly, the restaurant atmosphere is OK. Bigger and more upmarket than I expected, after having visited the previous restaurant at this Highgate location. Menu looked attractive with some nice options, prices seemed a little high but as others have mentioned, that seems to be the deal with Perth 's Indian restaurants in general. Service was OK. I was initially intrigued by the nice char on the chicken tikka and the skewered Paneer cheese, but was disappointed by the general sweetness in the sauces and the lack of depth in the flavour. This was most obvious with the vegetable korma. We expect the vegetables (whether chunked or minced into a patty) to be infused with spice flavours. This was some steamed pieces of carrots, cauliflower etc. served in a mildy spiced finishing sauce. I didn 't try to look into the kitchen, so cannot confirm if there was a tandoor oven, or if there was a microwave. But the frequent electronic ping raised suspicions.
Dined at this small restaurant in the Subiaco Railway Station Mall near Woolworths and it was absolutely delightful. The food and service was outstanding in fact the food was memorable. Nepalese food cooked in the traditional way with fabulous spicy and flavoursome sauces and curries. No bottled sauces here. The salad was fresh and crispy and a delight. The rice served was exceptional and the meats used in the dishes were all top quality. We loved out dinner and plan to return soon.
Today must be my tenth or more lunch here. Food always excellent as is the service. Premises is not five star but everything else makes up for it. Make sure you don't order too much we nearly always have to take some home what a p[ity.
