The place is not fancy but comfortable. The food is, however far and away MUCH better than anything nearby. All is well prepared stuffed with shrimp or whatever you ordered. My wife said it was the best shrimp taco she has ever had!
Well here it goes. I guess I’m left unimpressed by the food. First let’s start with the “street corn”. $4.50 for half an ear of corn at most. Total disappointment and a complete rip off when corn is so cheap to buy. I got a carne asada quesadilla. Came crisp which is nice, not overly greasy. Other than that completely devoid of any flavor. I love Mexican food and most places give good portions. For a pork quesadilla at $16, um I expect a full meal. It seemed more like an appetizer. Alas, the biggest complaint is it tasted like nothing. Wife had the cantina chicken quesadilla. Again lackluster. Tasted gamy which makes me wonder of the age and integrity of the food. Over all for two quesadillas and street corn and a bill of $45, I think next time I’ll get food elsewhere. We live in a city of great food so why settle!Update:Got food poisoning! Stomach cramps and other non pleasantries.
Horrible service. I go in to get a table, and they say there was a 30 minute wait and I gave them my name and number so they could text me when a table is ready. I come back after 30 minutes because I DID NOT get a text. I tell the blonde hostess with some freckles that I gave her my number and she replies “Oh well I texted you 20 minutes ago and you didn’t come back”, they give away their tables after 10 minutes obviously, but there was no text from a number. I say “I don’t have a text” and she replies “Well you should check”. So I left, I really think the workers should have better service and better their hostesses. I don’t go here that often but mediocre Mexican food, the place across the street, Carmen Y Juan, is better.
The food was awesome. Chicken and steak tacos were great but the beef tacos were incredible. Guac was really good, too!
