THE BEST CROISSANTS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. Seriously. They're chewy, dense, and so delicious. The plain ones are good, but so are the filled ones! And the cappuccinos are my favorite as well
This is one of my favorite stores. ever. period. I found this store by wandering Marienplatz. A friend tipped me off to see Dahlmayr but they didn't tell me this place was a few doors down. I was drawn in then I saw fresh bread in the window and people camped out with coffees and light bites in this in-store cafe. Upon entering, there's a counter where you can order freshly baked bread, charcuterie and cheese. Closer the front, you can grab a seat and have a coffee and cake. I wasn't sure how it worked. Did I have to go up to the counter and order? If you want service, you have to track down one of the servers that shuttle food back and forth. The place can get packed so if you see a chair, take it! Actually, you might have to hover and wait for someone to finish for a chair. It can get that busy! While snagging a seat, try to put in an order. The menus are posted on the chalkboard walls, and they also have real food on a paper fold out menu. Decide fast and track down a server. I think the servers deliberately try to ignore you if its busy. I have been here twice and both times its been a nightmare to get a food order in, or to get a staffer to even notice you. You have to speak up and really get their attention otherwise you'll never get service. I've had 2 older ladies beat me to it. I'm shy about my lack of German. That's the hard part. Once you get that down, you won't be disappointed. The food is high quality with fresh ingredients. They take care in the simple foods that work- bread, charcuterie, cheese, cakes, crostinis and good coffee. Maybe that's why they're so busy. My recommendation, the cheesecake. It's not too dense, but rather creamy, almost fluffy with a hint of lemon to cut through the potential monotony of a cheesecake. Pair this with a cappuccino and you'll be golden. Just remember, don't be shy to speak up!
