Gabriel is incredibly knowledgeable about food and flavors in general but in particular about the food local to this northern region. It was so unique to travel through this area through his cuisine and incredible wine selection. Everything about the meal from the flavors, to presentation, how to eat the dishes for maximum impact, and his explanations of the preparation and ingredients was top notch. I have a fairly restrictive diet and Gabriel was able to tailor my meal so I still enjoyed the best of the region. If you are in Jujuy, you do not want to miss this experience. Be sure to book 1-2 days in advance, this is not a regular restaurant and Gabriel needs some time to prepare.
When in or near Paramaca, a stop at Gabriel‘s home for dinner is a must. A really sweet and nice experience with homemade entrées, starters and desserts. Gabriel is very personable. Truly a unique experience and well worth taking. Best meal we had in northern Salta. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

When I told a friend that I was going to be in Purmamarca she told me you can 't stop going to Gabriel 's to eat and told me an experience more typical of a magical realism story by Gabriel García Márquez. With my family we eat everything and go anywhere, so we said why not? We called the day before to make a reservation (essential, reservations only and Gabriel explained to us carefully and in detail how his restaurant works, what we could expect and how to get there (key, because otherwise we would never have found it . If you go by car, like us, you leave the car at the entrance to Purmamarca on the road, you walk across, cross the train tracks and go over the river on a little bridge; On the other side, Gabriel is waiting for you and guides you the 2 or 3 blocks to his house, hidden in a neighborhood of low, brown houses that go into the hill. A room with some local decorations, a table, chairs depending on the number of diners, typical music in the background and Gabriel cooking in the next room. It is an experience of several dishes, small portions to taste, prepared at the moment, with local products (some even from Gabriel 's own garden in versions that you will not find anywhere else. There is llama, papines, quinoa, vegetables, coca leaves made into cake, mango, turmeric and local herbs. The surprise of the food is the charm of the place, so we are not going to spoil anything, just say that the dishes are delicious and Gabriel carefully plans a crescendo of flavors and textures to end in a dessert tasting that is incredible. You drink water or wine, whatever is available that day, we got one from a local vineyard with a particular acidic but very pleasant flavor. If you go with kids, you can order Milanese with fries (you 'll want to eat them yourself , but the kids will end up stealing your food (it happened to us! . Luckily, Gabriel gives you an extra portion and everything is solved. You can pay in cash or with a transfer and the cell phone signal is quite good. Don 't stop going!
Excellent food. We had a great time. Thanks Gabriel. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
