One of the top 5 dinners of my life! My husband, three daughters (ages 10, 8, and 6), and I all attended the St. Cousair wine tasting tour and dinner, and I am thrilled that we did! The tour lasted approximately 30 minutes, with an English-speaking guide showing and teaching us about the wine-making process from cultivation to corking. He even let the girls hold a large piece of cork and each cork a bottle in the old-fashioned way. After the tour, we enjoyed wine tasting and an array of delicacies. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the variety of natural foods that St. Cousair produces, from jams and sauces to sausage and cheese. We sampled over 5 different wines while the girls enjoyed delicious grape juice. The highlight was the dinner in the dam, at a restaurant with large windows overlooking the lights and snow of the valley. The view was breathtaking, and the beautifully set table with white tablecloths added to the ambiance. The children's meal arrived first, which was a hit with the parents. It included omelet with rice and vegetables, homemade sausages, fried prawns, soup, homemade bread, and salad. Despite being somewhat picky eaters, my daughters loved every bite. The adult meal followed shortly after, featuring soup, salad, local salmon, and a steak dinner, each course was delicious and the dessert was the perfect ending. My husband claimed that the chocolate mousse was the best he ever tasted. We left the evening feeling completely satisfied, and the included transportation to and from our hotel was an added bonus (the journey from Akakura took about 20 minutes). This dinner and tour experience is truly a hidden gem and worth every penny. It will be a lasting highlight of our vacation memories.
Unfortunately, it was raining, but the atmosphere surrounded by peaceful nature was very relaxing. Whenever I go to Nagano, I always visit this restaurant. The gelato, wine, and, of course, delicious, but this time I enjoyed the apple pie! Honestly, I'm not a fan of overly sweet apple pie and rarely eat it, but the apple pie at Sankuzer is a must-try for those who don't eat sweets often! It seems to be made with green apples, giving it a slightly tangy taste and a refreshing aftertaste. The refreshing flavor that makes you forget about the rain will surely become a must-have item during the apple season in autumn. It costs ¥550, though!
