Ray's Shanty - New Church

I visited Ray's Shanty for the first time on May 2nd, and we ordered the drum fish special. I had never tried this type of fish before, and it was fantastic! The sweet tea was just right, and the coleslaw and baked potato were also excellent. The hushpuppies were tasty too. This was my first experience at Ray's Shanty, but it definitely won't be my last! For the quality of the food, I’m giving it a solid 5-star rating.

We visited Ray's on Good Friday, April 18, 2014. We ordered the fresh Drum Fish, and it was absolutely delicious. The baked potato was cooked perfectly, unlike many other restaurants where it is often hard inside. My husband had the fresh-cut French fries, which were also great, and the coleslaw was very tasty. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience and will definitely return.

That being said, the food is quite impressive and the portion sizes are generous. They are well-known for their hush puppies, but everything we tried was equally delicious. Additionally, they offer raw seafood for those looking to prepare their own meals at home. While we opted to have them cook for us, we noticed that many customers chose the DIY option.

Visited Aug 2019 on a recommendation. The lobby was crowded, but our waiting wasn't very long. My wife and I ordered the Surf-n-Turf; given the price, a very generous cut of the main rib and very large shrimps it was worth waiting! The main rib was made perfect and the shrimps were fresh. A very friendly family atmosphere (it was a busy night) turned it off. No, we couldn't finish, we had to go home. We hope the food will be opened next month when we come back, but then I think again that their take-out should be just as good.
