We really like the small town feel of Richard's Restaurant. I had the bacon cheddar burger with extra toppings of mushrooms and lettuce. I took half of my burger home because it was so large. My husband had the ham cheese omelet which was very filling. Our food was good, and we were served by friendly people who seemed like neighbors. We also learned they have apple dumplingsall year long. If you want good food at a good price surrounded by good people, this is the place for you. Richard's has alwaysbeen a go to place to eat for my family for decades.
Went to the Richards in New Haven on Sunday 8/7. My wife and I both ordered their Swiss Steak special. Both of our Swiss Steak were so tough you could not eat them. We asked if an adjustment could be made on our bill, knowing that we did eat the saladand baked potato but we were told that nothing could be done since the type of meat used can be tough. Well, although we liketheir chicken and go there on occasion we can get broasted chicken at many places and don?t need to go to Richards. Sorry, losta customer over this one. There are other local independent restaurants that I can spend my money at. I guess the customerisn?t always right.
The waitress was really working hard to keep up with number of tables she was responsible for. Our food was cold upon delivery. Not warm but cold. She quickly brought us new order of biscuits and gravy which was that time hot but but the egg was only Luke warm.
A must stop for food. Everything was great, reasonable prices and staff were very nice!
