The first issue was with the hotel’s recommended app, which didn’t work properly. The pool was closed, and we were charged for parking, even though their driveway was blocked off for renovations. To make matters worse, there was no bar service, no room service, and no morning coffee or breakfast available. On a positive note, the lobby is beautiful and features lovely artwork, but the rooms are in need of an update.
Parking costs $45 per night, plus an additional $15 "historical fee," meaning you need to budget an extra $60 nightly, regardless of any deals you might find. Unfortunately, the shower was not clean and the toilet had persistent flushing issues, despite the maintenance engineer coming to fix it three times during our four-night stay. This was quite inconvenient, to say the least, and we ended up relying on the public restroom in the lobby. On the plus side, the interior is stunning—truly beautiful! However, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. As a side note, there’s a parking garage just a block and a half away that charges less than half the price. Also, the rooms are quite SMALL!
Firstly, be aware that there is no pool or room service. I didn’t let the absence of a rooftop pool influence my review since it isn’t advertised on their website. However, if you’ve visited before or read descriptions elsewhere, you might imagine there’s a delightful rooftop pool. They don’t mention that it’s closed (whether for renovations or permanently is unclear); they simply removed it from their site. The room we stayed in was spacious and tastefully decorated, showcasing some charming historic features. However, it did suffer from age and neglect—issues included a broken light switch, squeaky doors, a temperamental toilet flusher, and a sink that leaked from the knobs when turned on. Only one elevator was in operation, and while it had a charming historic floor counter above it, it was broken and made loud clicking sounds. One fun tradition at this hotel is serving guests peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with milk. I understand this tradition has evolved over the years. Currently, they offer it in the lobby from 4 to 5 PM, but on one occasion during that time, they had run out of sandwiches and milk just before 4:30. Empty milk containers were left out, leading guests to attempt to get milk only to throw away empty cups. On our second day, they removed the ice water station from the lobby, leaving us with the choice of overpriced bottled water or warm tap water from our leaky sink. By the third day, the coffee station wasn’t available when I went down around 7 AM. Despite these issues, I don’t regret choosing Le Pavillon. I hope the nightly historic preservation fee is wisely invested to restore this beautiful, once-thriving hotel.
There was construction happening adjacent to our 2 rooms for the 3 days we stayed here. There was debris in the halls and noise throughout our entire stay. Really unfortunate response from the manager of the hotel. After trying to nap for an hour, the sounds of drills, vacuums, and hammering would not stop from 4:30-5:30. The ground in our room was shaking. After calling the front desk/manager to report this, they said they “didn’t know the construction workers were even here” and they “had no idea when they’d be leaving but they’ve never stayed past 1 PM before. We politely asked for them to comp our rooms and I was told, “we don’t do that.” I then asked for them to move our rooms to two rooms adjacent to each other and the manager said “We haven’t received any complaints from anyone else so your other party would have to call the front desk and complain before we could switch their room. I also wouldn’t be able to guarantee rooms are next to each other.” She proceeded to ask me for the other room number and then I got hung up on. Would never stay here again due to really poor customer service and concerns that the hotel “didn’t even know construction was here.” For the safety of your guests, I would hope you know when services are being done throughout the building.Other miscellaneous complaints: One of two elevators are out of service, pool out of service, A/C dripping on bed (we had to turn up the temp to stop this), valet requested I park my own car.Rooms: Refused to provide any compensation for our stay.Safety: Management reported they did not know construction workers were in the building.
The staff was great and the lobby is beautiful. The bed was too soft so both I and my 19 year old daughter woke up sore. The pool was closed, and there was construction around the gym which made access difficult (there’s also no signage, so it’s hard to find).Rooms: Rooms look nice, but are a bit run down. The fridge cabinet would not close after we opened it. The bed was WAY too soft and uncomfortable. (Room 224)Walkability: It’s a great location far enough from Bourbon Street racket that you don’t hear it, but close enough to access quickly.
