He was very friendly, and sent out a complimentary small bite. Our waitress was pretty good as well. The bread that was sent out to the table was cold and tasted slightly stale. We started with gumbo and eggplant truffle fries. My husband got the crab stack for his main meal, and I got the Waugh ribeye. We shared asparagus and plain pasta as sides. The food was all tasty, but the main issue was the temperature. Many things came out lukewarm rather than hot. We sent the gumbo back to be warmed further, but we didn't want to ruin the rest of the food by heating it up again. I would recommend all of the dishes that we got.
Service: service was the highlight of our experience here. The place wasn't crowded and pretty much all the wait staff interacted with us and were very attentive. Price: So so high for the quality of food we received. I visited Dick and Jenny's per a local's tip and we were prepared to pay the price for an authentic Cajun experience and unfortunately that's not really what we got. We paid $52 for 1 entree and 1 side of truffle fries. Food: really just wasn't that impressed with quality or portions. My partner and I ordered truffle fries and the pan seared tuna. The side of fries was $9 and much smaller than we expected and seemed to be lack a lot of the usual truffle-esque seasonings and toppings. Additionally, I really think there was a freezer burn taste to be fries. The tuna had a similar experience. It didn't taste fresh and rather like a frozen fillet. For the price I paid, I wasn't pleased. The tuna did come with a scoop of crab meat which I suppose is a perk. I did order a drink- I don't recall the name but it included gin and honey. It was really delicious and I do suggest the cocktail. Atmosphere: it's a cute atmosphere- small and quaint with hometown style decor. TL:DR; I suggest spending your $50+ at another restaurant if you're visiting
After standing in line for an hour at Hansen's, a local told us that Dick and Jenny's was a great spot for dinner. We walked over and were quickly seated. I admit, I wasn't that hungry after my ice cream stuffed sno ball, so I shared the risotto with a friend. The risotto was perfectly cooked, and a half portion was the right size for me. They even split the plate for us--a really nice touch. Our table also split the skillet cornbread, which was DELICIOUS. The skillet added a crispiness to the edges and kind of caramelized the corn bread... anyway, DON't SKIP THIS! Everything was beautifully plated and we all enjoyed our meal. I would love to come back and explore more of the menu!
We had a great dinner tonight at Dick and Jennie's. Our wait staff Sammy was amazing so warm, friendly and was on top of everything. The bartender made a great old fashioned and the chef well, he was amazing. We are both vegans and Chef Merlin whipped us up a great meal. It was really nice to be welcomed despite our dietary choices. This is my 5th or so trip and I will continue to come back every time I am in town. Thank you.
Being that our names are Dick and Jenni this was a must stop for us! Booked through open table, seated promptly. Our waitress however definitely needed a night off, career change, attitude adjustment or all of the above. She's the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. The chargrilled oysters were different than anywhere else I've had and surprisingly very good!! We almost ordered more!! The cornbread was really yummy as well!! I didn't have my reading glasses and lo and behold, they brought a bag full to choose from. Genius!! The main entrees were delicious!! My friends got a fish order, I don't even like fish but it was actually really good!! There wasn't a bite of food left I don't think. We'll be back for certain, hopefully with better service though.
