We're visiting New Orleans for a birthday celebration. We had an entirely wonderful dinner at Superior Seafood tonight. Started with the happy hour raw oysters. They were delicious! The house wine by the bottle was 50% off for happy hour. The Chardonnay was nice. Our server, Areina, was a delight! She has a great smile. She was very attentive and was helpful describing menu items. I will definitely come here again. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation! And see if Areina is working!
Rebecca and Nick is our servers (and they are fantastic ! The whole team is like husband and wife They work so well together. And if you haven't been here you better come! Well when we walked in we found out that it was reservation only but we were able to find a seat at the bar. They have a fantastic daily specials for happy hour food or drink. THIS IS A MUST make a reservation if you don't want to sit in the bar. Check it out you won't be disappointed. Ambiance is excellent for the setting.
Oysters are great. Pianist is awesome. Drinks are superb recommend the frozen drinks). Service is just okay, never anything that I 've been able to rave about but never downright terrible. Management is just atrocious. Had a meeting with a foreign colleague of mine who put sauce on his fish or steak? I can 't remember but the manager sat at the end of the bar judging him with the other staff members. I caught him right as he was gathering eyes and he was close enough that I could hear him saying check out this guy, look at this guy before being surprised when meeting my eye. Needless to say, I won 't be back. I 've had issues with the managers here before and that attitude leaks over into the staff which is one reason why I stopped patronizing a year before. Fast forward a year later and seemingly nothing has changed, I won 't be back here which is a shame because the ambience is great, fun and it 's always jam-packed but I can 't in good conscience continue to spend my money here and receive or witness unprofessionalism. Do I recommend this place?: Mixed feelings. They can do much better.
Superior Seafood is a perfect choice if you're looking for seafood, especially oysters, while uptown. Superior hasn't been on the corner of Napoleon and St. Charles for ages, but it sure looks and feels like it. The interior is full of rich wood tones, exposed brick, and that charming New Orleans tile work that defines so many other classic eateries about town. The dining room offers both intimate booths and table seating, plus bar top for those wanting to watch the drink slinging action or whatever sports are playing on the tv. One wall of the dining area looks out onto St. Charles and frames the streetcars passing by their windows perfectly. (also great for carnival season! Service was exceptional. Our server checked on us often, and was helpful in guiding us through the menu questions. We wanted to take our time, and she offered to pace out the meal as we went, so we weren't getting our entrees while still snacking on our appetizers. We had a problem with one entree being sent out cold, and she immediately turned it back to the kitchen for a refire. Zero complaints. The food was great. We went big on oysters. We had 2 dozen raw and the oyster superior plate that offers 2 Bienville, 2 Char-grilled, and 2 Rockefeller. The raw oysters came out ice cold with cocktail and grated horse radish and the sample plate was a great way to touch a little bit of everything. Entrees were the scallops and the Andouille sausage stuffed jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon. Both came with a starter salad. The scallops were served cold but like I mentioned, our waitress fixed the issue lickity split. Everything was delicious. Sometimes consistent places trump the new and notables, and Superior Seafood certainly deserves to be on your trusted rotation list.
