Run by Amy, a cooking reality show winner, the classes will teach you the secrets of Cajun and Creole cooking. The school is located in a beautiful old Italian market that has been recently renovated. You can easily walk there from the French Quarter and can choose to participate as much as you like. If you're eager to get hands-on experience, you can don an apron and work at the stove. If you prefer to observe, you can sit back with a glass of champagne and watch others in action. Classes can be taken individually or as a group, and typically last about 2 hours. At the end of the class, you will receive the recipes for the dishes you cooked, so you can recreate them at home. Overall, a delicious and informative experience!
If you love Louisiana cuisine - or food in general - you should add a cooking class to your trip. In New Orleans, Chef Amy (winner of a cooking reality show) will show you the secrets of Cajun and Creole cuisine. The school is beautiful, located in a former Italian market that has been recently renovated. It is also within walking distance from the French Quarter. You can get as involved in the classes as you want: if you enjoy getting your hands dirty, no one will stop you from putting on an apron and getting behind the stove; while if you prefer to observe, you can watch others work while you enjoy a glass of champagne. The classes can be individual or in groups, and last about 2 hours. In my class (brunch) we prepared and TASTED Gumbo, turtle soup, Jambalaya, homemade bread, and crepes. It goes without saying that everything was delicious... At the end of the course, they give you the recipes of the dishes you cooked so you can make them at home.
