Come hungry! We began with peach bakarat, a house made soda and a glass of wine. Not being able to decide we just went all in- We ordered the carrots, pickles and the TOMATO CONFIT!!!! Hello? Yes!!!! The pickles were peppers, cucumbers, onions and cauliflower- divine and mild. The carrots were unlike any I’d had before. They were tender and flavorful. But this confit… next level delish! I will be attempting a recreation of these delectable morsels at home. Next up- the hummus with brussels. Don’t miss it- fantastic with the softest fresh pita. My 17 year old son couldn’t resist the fried chicken- this is a sizable portion that could easily be shared. The 3 large portions were tender, juicy, fried to perfection and drizzled with honey. Also a shareable portion was the lamb that I ordered. So tender, topped with some of the tomato confit etc- did I mention the confit? My daughter and I were supposed to share the lamb and the duck she ordered. Fail. I got one piece of the most delectable duck I’ve ever had in my life! It was simply amazing. Finally an order of baklava on a generous portion of white chocolate citrus sauce just about put us on a cot in the back alley- I thought shaaya was great- shout out to the sous vide/wood fired everything, but Saba has raised the bar! Perfection!
This restaurant was full of a friendly staff, everyone I spoke to radiated such sweet energy and it made me super comfortable immediately. This was my first time having Mediterranean food, and the food was delicious. I had the roasted duck with shrimp hummus, and was super super impressed. We sat at the bar, and had Ian as our waiter/bartender. He was super informative, friendly, and just a pleasure to talk to. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone I know visiting New Orleans.
What a disappointment. Hummus and Pita were good, but plates were horrible and appetizers mediocre. We won’t be visiting again.
My first time here, visiting with friends who are local to the city. They recommended Saba and it didn’t disappoint! Atmosphere was welcoming and bright, food was fantastic (oh my, that hummus and those super fresh pitas!! , and staff were fabulous. Plenty of free parking nearby too. Only real drawback was the table at which we’d been seated — two chairs and a couch. The three of us on the couch kept sinking into it, further and further throughout the evening. A tad uncomfortable.
