I made reservations for 1:30 and inquired with the bartender and manager who informed me that the woman in charge of the reservations was late and he didn't know at what time she will be there. I asked if there were tables available to which he stated yes but he couldn't sit us because we would still have to wait because he was alone. I told him that we rather wait sitting down as there were many people standing. The woman came at around 2:00 and stated that there was a problem with Open Table reservations. We were so frustrated with the lack of professionalism, consideration and lack of customer service that we walked out as we were treated as if they were doing us a favor by eating at their establishment. We will not return.
I had a reservation that they called to confirm the night before. When I got to the restaurant it was closed. We went across the street and ate and when we were done, la Avenida was still not open. I was planning on having my birthday brunch there and was going to check it out. Good thing I did because I do not want to go to brunch if I don’t know if the restaurant will be open or not. I would have at the least expected a phone call if they were not going to open that day
There needs to be more staff, not 1 waitress for 50 ppl. French toast was dry, ordered shrimp tacos which was not on the brunch menu. Cheap alcohol in plastic medicine caps for shots. Broken toilet that wont flush. Had to move my table to accomodate a party who didn't have a reservation. I had a reservation! DJ made the place worth it. Had a party atmosphere. Although only 1 waitress, was very nice.
A delightful culinary experience. Our drinks were delicious and everything went uphill from there. Soft, spicy guacamole and generously filled tacos al pastor for an appetizer, which were tender, spicy, sweet, and gone too soon! Entrees were an amazing enchilada dish--simple but so well flavored with some of the best black beans I've ever had. And vaca frita thst was smoky, tender and tasty. Our wonderful waitress (and owner's wife) brought us complimentary churros for dessert, which were light and crunchy. We left very full and already planning our next visit.
