Make My Cake - New York

Very disappointing this will not be the first time I traveled to this location and they was closed well before store hours. That's adding insult to injury because they don't even carry their menu fresh in stock as much as you think a bakery should.

I picked up an order today and I have to say that the staff at this location are incredibly kind and welcoming. I had a long journey home, and they made sure to secure my order properly, ensuring that everything would arrive safely. I've been ordering cakes from here every year and I will continue to recommend the Make My Cake family to everyone I meet.

The cakes are quite good overall (although a few can be a bit dry), and the service is just okay. The staff seems to have a bit of an attitude, as if you're lucky to have the chance to pay for cake from this small shop, which is amusing. That said, the cakes are definitely worth it. My favorites include the red velvet, pineapple, strawberry shortcake, and key lime pie. I do feel they've lost a bit of their charm since moving from 116th Street, but I'm hopeful they'll find new inspiration to innovate again.

Lazy service! We wanted a simple message Happy 70th birthday Mom! on a birthday cake and they couldn 't even get that right. The message was missing the 70th , the most important part! How do you mess up such a simple message? SMH

I went in and was greeted by a very friendly staff member. I absolutely love the sweet potato cheesecake; it's unbelievably delicious! I haven't had it in eight years, and it still tastes amazing. I moved away but was visiting and I'm so glad this place is still here. It may be small, but they have the best desserts!
