We were warmly welcomed at the door by the host, David, and then welcomed again by our very professional, warm and capable waiter. The service was outstanding and the food even better. We chose to eat tapas style, and the food came out incrementally at a pace that was perfect and allowed us to not feel rushed and enjoy the experience. The food was flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ambience was cozy and comfortable. We truly felt like we were in a restaurant in Spain. Without any hesitation we will visit Sala One Nine when we travel to NYC again.
Pros: tasty food, it is authentic. The ham is ballots and is very good. Excellent croquetas, only the Cons: the service was way too fast, with the empty plates being whisked away as the last mouthful was being eaten. Pan tumaca was excellent, but consisted of two slices of bread the size of my thumb, with jamon bellota, this is not a good value. The sound level is cacophonous as all surfaces are hard brick walls, tine ceiling, etc. The prices would be fair if the portions were not so tiny. This restaurant is very interested in turning the tables over as quickly as possible to maximize the number of covers per night.
Cute, romantic place with very good food. The ham croquettes and empanadas are a must have.
Fantastic, it reminds me of southern Spain. The show was excellent. I hope the place was larger to showcase more artists at once. The food was delicious and the sangria was delicious. 5 stars.
My fiancé and I, along with another couple, went to this restaurant for dinner. It was a bit noisier than we would have liked, but we were still able to enjoy a conversation. We ordered the paella for two and three other tapas to share among us. During a vacation in Barcelona last year, my fiancé and I had an amazing squid ink paella at a beachfront restaurant. None of the paellas we've tried in the states have come close to that one until we tried the paella at this restaurant. We found it to be excellent. The fish was very fresh, and it wasn't overloaded with rice like many other paellas we've had. We also tried the potatoes, scallops, and octopus. The scallops were delicious, and although I hadn't enjoyed octopus in the past, I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was at this restaurant. The service was also great, and we didn't have to wait long for our food despite the restaurant being full. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely consider this restaurant for future dinners and recommendations to others. Thank you for a fantastic meal.
