Only one out of the four dishes we ordered had a distinct taste, while the other three were bland and generic Australian-Chinese dishes that could be found in any court. Even after my friend specifically asked for the Szechuan beef to be sharp and not sweet, it turned out to be both. The prices were reasonable and the portions were generous, but overall we were not impressed and do not plan on returning. It wasn't terrible, but it was disappointingly average and lacked uniqueness.
We are new in town and decided to try out the bistro in the Hexham Bowls Club. We opted for the family banquet and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. Our main course was served quickly, was delicious, and was quickly devoured by the family. Without much of a wait, the table was filled with a mountain of food for the main course. My teenage son was very satisfied. We ended the meal with dessert. The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and all of this for only $15 per person. It will be difficult to find a better deal than this.
This bistro, located within the Hexham Bowling Club, has been a longstanding fixture in the area. Situated next to the Hunter River, which flows into the harbor of Newcastle, NSW, this establishment offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with top-notch service. The club bar is fully stocked for all your beverage needs. The bistro features an extensive Chinese menu, with dishes delivered promptly to your table after ordering. The food, a fusion of Australian and Asian flavors, is served hot, stylishly presented, and in generous portions. With meals priced at an average of $12, it's no surprise that this place is a hit with locals. Guests should be prepared for the typical club atmosphere, including periodic announcements and the presence of poker machines.
This club bistro enjoys a great success because it gets all the basic things right. massive mainly Aussie/Chinese menu offers something for everyone. If they have hunger, then the debt would probably lie with the customer. remember that it is a worker club located on the mighty hunter river that migrates next to the main train to newcastle. if they like the constant P.A in the background, ruffled, untrained waist, no annoying Chinese food that is hot and tasty that they can wash with cheap beer or wein from the bar then this place is for them. If you like posh nosh, you like it here secretly, but would never admit it
We are new to the area and thought we would visit the bistro at Hexham bowls club. We decided on the family banquet and my goodness we got a lot more than we bargained for ... and I mean that in a good way.Our entree was served very quickly, very tasty and was quickly demolished by the family. Without to much time passing the mains hit the table and it was a mountain of food. My teenage son was very happy. This was then followed by dessert. Amazing food, great service and all for $15 per head. This one will be tough to beat.
