I am a regular at Saravana Bhavan East Ham and have been going there for more than a decade (14+ years). In my 250+ visits over the years, I have never been asked to pay £4.50 for extra chutney for a takeaway order, until now! I initially thought the lady at the counter was kidding but she was insistent that I paid £4.50 (that’s more than the cost of the idly itself. Idly costs £4.45). I told her that it’s ok to charge like £1 or so for extra chutney but £4.50 is an absolute ripoff! Maybe the money would go into her pockets, who knows. It has definitely gone downhill from where it used to be, with corrupt staff just spoiling the name of a good Indian brand that the owners have created! Such a shame and disgrace. No more of my customs to Saravana Bhavan. Thankfully london has many more good South Indian restaurants so on the hunt now to find an alternative. Any suggestions welcome. Moral of the story loyalty towards Saravana Bhavan will only kick you in your butt!
Too busy as usual snd it shows clearly in their service too . Long wait to take order and to deliver food . One must have a good patience to visit this place . I wanted to cancel 3 times but the waitress kept saying it’s almost ready and you will get soon !! Never again
Worst food , please do not waste your money. Ordered different types of food , not even the single food was tasted like the original saravana bhavan
Very crowded (just because the seating is not managed properly . our order took 35 minutes (chana bhature after numerous reminders and saying we want to cancel the order we got it finally . bhature was too oily and chewy .. also the chana was very small portion probably enough for a 3yrs old baby . chilly paneer was very hard and too salty, mango lassi was too watery ! couldn't enjoy our food at all. Staff are hanging around talking in their own language and not bothered of customers. during the conversation with them they just ignore you and continue the communication with their colleagues in their own language. i found it very rude .. Onion came with skin and top end ! when reported they just chucked another 2 pcs to that .. during the years the service and customer service had down so badly in this place . Better to avoid Saravan Bhawan east ham that's my advice.
