Stopped here on our first night in Newport with no reservation and no idea what to expect. Well, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was very warm and local. We were in the mood for good bar food and this was the RIGHT CHOICE. The Lobster Rolland a Blackened Chick Quesadilla hit the spot as we washed them down with some local craft drafts. Excellent experience andwould absolutely go back.
Stopped by with my daughters for a Saturday lunch before Labor Day. My oldest daughter and I both ordered clam chowder and enjoyed it. The chowder was a perfect consistency ? not too thin or thick. However, I only got flecks of clam meat, not smallchunks. We shared a starter dish of fried calamari, which was outstanding. The squid was tender and mixed with sweet pickledbanana peppers. However, the fried batter flaked off of some of the calamari ? something you rarely see in the South, wherecooks have perfected the art of frying food. We also shared a white bean salad, which was satisfying. My younger daughterordered a veggie burger and fries. She enjoyed her meal. We were served by Abbey, who was attentive and pleasant. The music wasa bit too loud for this aging boomer. The Police and Bowie were playing at the start of our meal, but the playlist drifted intothe dark periods of the late 70s. I never thought I?d have to listen to Molly Hatchet again in my life. The place was kidfriendly, with a fountain full of floating pool toys.
In between a 3 and a 4 star. Place is fun and lively decent for kids since they have the fountain with toy ducks and nets. Reason for just 3 stars was because food was average, fish was way over cooked and chewy but all other meals at table were fine. Also no ocean view, hard to give 5 stars in Newport to a place with no ocean view.
Lots of outdoor seating and dog friendly, and the water fountain is geared up for kids. serving a lot of grilled and Caribbean dishes. I ate the Chicken Curry Saute which was as tasty as I expected it to be. There's a wide variety of drink selections hereparticularly for mixed house drinks. Restaurant has no parking and is situated in a pedestrian heavy zone.
