I know my plate has everything touching. But as grandma always said, It all goes down same pipe, this was from the buffet. I wanted to try a bit of everything.
We were in town for one day. We used google maps to find a place to eat. We selected another restaurant but once we arrived we selected TBG. GREAT choice. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait but it took only 15 minutes. The service was great. The food was excellent. I over ate.
So, I wrote this review a month ago, but it never got posted, even though there was 13 views. Clearly Tucanos or whoever blocked my review and censored me. I even emailed [hidden email], as I noticed this to be the replies on here, but I was kept on read and no reply to my comments. Take 2: My family and I been going to Tucanos for years now, and multiple times throughout the years. We 've even recommended them to friends and other family. Although we 're from Va Beach, we take the drive up for dinner sometimes. We 've never had a problem, until last week when my family and I went. Last week they were running a special for $23, which the waitress told us was $20.23 as a new year special. The misinformation is our first complaint. After dinner, I signed the bill, and I thought everything was fine, as I didn 't feel Tucanos would rip us off. They 'd treated us well for years. It wasn 't until a few days ago when my sister checked the bank statement and realized that the price was more than what she anticipated it would be. We lost the printed receipt and we based our calculations on $20.23, not $23. So, I called Tucanos to clarify and she texted me the receipt. I realized that they tip on the entire bill, including tax, not on the subtotal. When I explained this to the manager on the phone, she gets mad and tells me that I could 've clicked on custom tip and choose how much to tip, and it was my fault for not seeing that option and for trusting their preselected percentages to be accurate. Even after doing the math of 20% of the total bill (subtotal+tax), the tip was even $5 more. So, all the years we 've been going, we 've been tipping more than we should be, $10-30 per visit, as we normally reserve between 6-10 people per visit. I 'd advise patrons to check the tip options on Tucanos credit card machines and to make sure you get clarification on the discounting pricing specials. I guess we 'll be looking for a new restaurant to go to for our family gatherings, as Tucanos has let us down. In addition, my sister and mother 's birthday month is January and we were at Tucanos to celebrate, plus my sister was heading back to school out of state, and when we thought it was $20.23, it was a good deal as we would 've saved $68 on our meal. However, with it being $23, we only saved $48.65. Had they used their free birthday dinners, as we planned, we would 've saved $60. The New Years promo cost us more money then what we were going to spend.
Food is good, however they do not come often, you can see those servees just hangin around in the grill area while those who are seated in the enclosed section gets all the meat they want. servers also chose their way of offering meat to costumers
