There was a time I honestly mistook chicken bacolod with Mang Inasal (also vice versa), it was only after I realized that was a novice mistake. They are worlds apart, though chicken bacolod isnt what you would consider fine dining, they keep your perception and memory of the Inasal rooted in tradition. Grilled Chicken in Inasal sauce drizzled in chicken sauce (this is making me drool right now just talking about it) is my safest choice for lunch. Did I say they top it off with sauteed garlic to add a little kick? Man I got to get out of here now and get me some.
Overall I've been a returning customer through the years because of the good quality of their chicken. There are times when the white meat is too dry, but it can be shrugged off because of the toyomansi dip that you'll prepare yourself. Choosing the Chicken Part: Least to most dry white meat would be Wings, Thigh, and then Breast. This is subjective so I'm speaking based on how I received all my chickens. : All three have excellent skin flavor, hands down. Wings are the most fun to eat. If you go to wing joints elsewhere, I'm sure you can relate. Thigh is the most balanced because it has more meat than the wings, but less dry than the chunk from the Breast. Other Food: Salmon Belly Sinigang is just right. It's not too sour but very sour would still be very delicious anyway. They give a lot of belly strips n' veggies and these can serve 2-3 people fairly. Service: Patience can be tested especially when they're understaffed during the peak of lunch time. It has happened a number of times where I'm almost ignored for a while, or they get back to me after so long. Consideration makes the world go round smoothly and you'll feel light about it. They're actually friendly and very very quick during off peak hours. So yeah, I'm definitely going back there!
Disclaimer: I've never been to Bacolod, so I haven't tried the real thing but anyway This is my favorite cheat day as if meal! It has all the Pinoy food perfections- goes well with garlic rice, you can make your own sauce, you can lick your fingers after. Portions are very generous. Rice quality can be improved but whatever, that should be the least of your concerns.
I prefer their chicken inasal over other restaurants that offer this. I always go for the Paa part. Just request to cook it thoroughly to avoid returning it back. I really like their inasal because it's not that oily and it's flavorful. I used to like the Batchoy but the last time we ate here, it was very salty. Chicken sisig was so so like it's missing something. Gising gising was okay. For dessert, we ordered the Chocnut Ice Cream. It was just 2 scoops max of vanilla ice cream topped with Chocnut bits. As much as I loved the taste (hello, it's Chocnut), I don't see why it's priced at 135php. I think it's very pricey. We were seated near the front and there was a wall blocking us from the main area where the servers are standing. We has a hard time trying to catch their attention. I think one of them must be stationed near that area so he/she will see if a customer needs something.
