As far as Middle Eastern food is concerned, shawarma and kebab joints are naturally more popular in this meat-crazed country, but I do think that if falafels got more spotlight and were sold more accessibly such as in this kiosk, Filipinos would really dig this stuff. Why? Well, it doesn't even taste like a vegetable. It's brown, looks like a meatball, and very deceiving (in the best way possible and doused in sauce! This kiosk in Cash n' Carry's foodcourt is the cheapest place to get a falafel in the metro. For less than a hundred pesos, you can even get their biggest serving! It's tasty and hits the spot. Though tahini sauce is not what they use, what you get in your falafel is hummus, which isn't too bad, really. If you're vegan, do ask to remove the mayo.
This food kiosk isn't new but it was a recent discovery for me. It sells really good, and extremely cheap wraps rice meals. I've actually gone back twice in a month. During my first visit, I took a risk by immediately ordering a FALAFEL SAROOKH or Jumbo Falafel Wrap w/ 5 pieces of falafel balls. I figured that in case I'd regret doing so, spending only Php 90 won't be too much of a waste. (The Regular size has 3 pieces the Mini has 2. The first bite was euphoric! I loved how the falafel, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, thick fries, hummus, and regular spicy garlic sauces all blended wonderfully inside my mouth. I especially appreciate how fries hummus were part of the wrap for other similar establishments consider this an extra, value-added order. JUST A TIP (learned this from Falafel's staff : Fries are automatically added when you order the Jumbo size BUT you can tell them to include fries for FREE to your Regular- or Mini-sized wrap. ?
This place is the most affordable option I've ever gone to for a decent falafel in Metro Manila. It's located at the Food Circle food court of Cash and Carry, beside a siomai place (quite hidden, you'd have to go at the back, leftmost area) Portions are big for the amount you are spending (less than a P100 for falafel/wraps/sandwiches). Though they don't serve falafels with tahini, but instead hummus sauce (as of Sept. 22, 2014). The seller said that hummus is easier to make than tahini. Offers a small cup of free iced tea for every meal, too. TIP: If you're vegan, ask to remove mayo from the wraps/sandwich.
