It was as if the Chef may have been trying to hard to deliver a unique spin on a peppercorn sauce. I was unable to eat more than a couple bites. The service (Corrina) and atmosphere was stellar. We had no reservation yet they fit us in with less than a 10 minute wait.
Worse than fake and arrogant phony overpriced plastic restaurant. After reading the owner's arrogant response, this place is even worse than I had experienced before. The greedy patriarchal owner uses his response to debate instead of understanding his former customer's point of view. Also as a customer I do not need to read this absurd owners untruthful comments as they appear to be lies and a defensive rebuttal to actual comments. Enthusiastically arrived for dinner outside on the patio, as seniors we did not want inside dining in the health emergency. Insensitive demanding staff ordered us to go inside to the hostess and into a crowd of hostile staff and the arrogant insincere owner. Cringeworthy small town amateurs projecting their hostility on customers like that guy whose name rhymes with Dump. This place does not meet my expectations. Limited menu, high prices, insincere feeling from staff and owner. During the shutdown they opened the outdoor patio which was nice. A month or so later they opened the restaurant for inside dining. We sat down at the patio, then we were rudely ordered to go inside to the hostess, the uptight rude staff, a small crowd of customers and exposed to the hostess and other diners. Unbelievable arrogance from the owner Nick Mastronardi. I wouldn't want to go there again if they were giving free food with the rude arrogant attitude of this place. If you like unappreciative insincere greedy amateurs, this place could make you feel right at home like somewhere on the East Coast that they left. Zero stars at best. Beware of exposure to these amateur’s unsafe atmosphere if you are health conscious.
3 1/2 stars. Last evening my husband and I dined for the first time at the 1914 House. Lovely Holiday inspired subtle decorations were appreciated. Friendly staff. Delicious Brussels Sprouts appetizer. However then waited for over an hour for our meals. My husband felt his Chicken Piccata meal was over- salted including the mashed potatoes. My evening specialty Halibut dinner was delicious. Because of the length of wait for our meals we didn’t have time to try desserts. We likely will try another visit when we don’t have other plans for after the meal.
Great food and service. Nice atmosphere. Menu has variety and changes from time to time. Boulder restaurants could learn a lot from this place.
I took my wife (and our kids) here for her birthday recently and everything was excellent. Her cocktail was great and I enjoyed my local Niwot beer. I typically take photos of the food for my reviews but wanted to be present since it was a birthday celebrating my wife so sorry I don 't have photos but rest assured the food looked as great as it tasted (presentation was on point)We ordered a few appetizers. Oysters on the half shell, baked artichoke, and baked brie. The Oysters tasted fresh and came with delicious sauces (cocktail, and I believe an herbed sherry vinaigrette that was excellent. I asked for hot sauce and was loving the sherry vinaigrette with a dab of hot sauce). We didn 't love the baked artichoke but I 'm not going to take points away, as it was probably perfect, we were just trying it for the first time and didn 't really like that preparation, being used to steamed artichokes. My hearts of romaine salad was delicious and we shared a french onion soup, which was also excellent. For dinner we had Chicken Piccata, Crispy Skin Branzino, Fried Chicken, and a dinner Caesar Salad with steak. I won 't go into details, except that the Branzino was out of this world, with a super crispy skin that belied the perfectly cook (moist) fish underneath. Everybody else also loved their dinners. I was surprised at how complex and delicious a basic meal like Chicken Piccata could taste. There were a few Crème brûlées ordered and it was perfect. Again, sorry for the lack of photos (next time), but we were seriously impressed with this place. And I love, love, love that the kitchen is behind glass and open to see. It speaks to their confidence in the cleanliness and professionalism with which they operate. Dietary restrictions: They had no problem accommodating my low-carb diet and subbed amazing sauteed garlic spinach for the jasmine rice that came with the dish Parking: Plenty of street parking
