The pub was very empty and only one of the advertised cask ales was available. A poor start and it got worse. The barman's very loud voice and the volume of the piped music made normal conversation impossible. The food was mediocre and incredibly overpriced. We will not visit again. There are several much more attractive and competively priced options nearby. Very disappointing indeed.
We were visiting the area and had booked a table in the restaurant. The web site clearly states the time for your table and if you wanted to sit in the restaurant or dog restaurant. Ignore both. When we arrived we were told the restaurant area was not available as it was prepared for a function. We were then offered tables in the very very noisy dog restaurant, we choose one away by the other exit. Very very bad service as the restaurant area did not have a function in it, or was prepared no one sat in it that evening. Food was ok, reasonably priced. The pub area was not the place to take your wife for a meal.
A gem of a find on our way back from the Battle of Britain experience at Coninsbury. Bar staff very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Food was excellent. Toilets very clean and a pleasure to use. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back if we were in the area again.
A great choice for lunch! Cask ales, real fire, cosy country pub feel and extremely welcoming staff! We guessed we were onto a winner when we couldn’t choose between several of the dishes on the menu. This time round a chilli and the chicken and ham pie were perfect, and we will definitely be back to try more! Thanks folks!!
