Maya Bar And Restaurant

Been to Maya before and was reasonably impressed, this evenings visit was far from what I expected, attentive service from some of the staff, but being asked by the owner at the table to prove our booking was not very professional…. My son’s butter chicken was very dry and tough chicken), to cap it all I’ve never been to an Indian restaurant that allows screaming toddlers to run around other people dining in the restaurant. Will not be returning…….

I was hesitant to write this review because Maya has always been one of our favorite places to dine, and it feels disloyal. However, upon further consideration, I believe that management missed an opportunity to provide better value for the overall dining experience. Our Christmas Dinner, with gravy, featured the best turkey I have ever tasted. Unfortunately, the overall quality of the meal was disappointing. The Prawn Cocktail starter was subpar, with an excessive amount of sauce that made the salad soggy and lacked flavor. The baked bread was undercooked. The service was good and the atmosphere was relaxed. After discussing my concerns with the manager and showing him a photo of the meal, he acknowledged the issues and addressed them with the kitchen. I was surprised to receive the full bill at the end of the meal, but after speaking with the manager, he kindly discounted £16 from the total bill of £145.

I recently had a family meal at this restaurant on Boxing Day and I must say, I was extremely impressed. The staff were wonderful - so friendly and welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. The food was delicious with generous portion sizes, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I will definitely be coming back again. I had a take away delivered from this place last night via Just Eat. It was the worst curry I have ever tasted. The pasanda sauce was literally cream with tomato ketchup added. The king prawns were vile and still had shells on. It went straight in tje bin. When I phoned to complain, they offered me a replacement meal. I did not want another meal from Maya so I asked for a refund. I was then told that all refunds have to go through Just Eat. It is virtually impossible to get any help fron Just Eat. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

We had a fantastic experience at Maya restaurant. The friendly barperson greeted us and took our drink orders before being seated by a very attentive waiter. We enjoyed the lamb rogan josh and the Maya special from their signature dishes, along with garlic naan and sag aloo. This meal was absolutely heavenly - the best curry and service we've had in a long time. We highly recommend giving Maya a try - they will surely impress you just as they did us. Well done Maya, what a great evening of delicious food and excellent service!
