Contribuisci feedbackWhen I first visited Happy Family Inn back in 2013 it blew me away with how amazing the food was and how friendly the staff were, now is 2015 and the food has gone down in quality a little and now the staff just sort of 'go through the motions '.<br/ <br/ Looking past these two things this place is still my favourite Chinese in Perth by far, the quality of the dishes is just far beyond anything you will find in the suburbs and does well considering it 's in the same area as the two juggernauts 'Uncle Billys ' and 'Billy Lees ' and manages to take them to school in almost every aspect except for restaurant size of course.<br/ <br/ Now the food, they have all the basics you will find in any Chinese and much more with a highly detailed menu with images of most dishes, when it comes to the basics such as Honey Chicken and Honey King Prawns they are in a total different league of flavor than suburban places and there are my personal reccomendations such as: Spare Ribs with Mayonaise (don 't knock it till you try it), Roast Pork Hock, Braised Beef Brisket Claypot (was better in 2013 but still good), Nang King Salted Duck (cold duck is amazing) and any of their Chilli/Salt dishes (Squid Tentacles, Bean Curd, Ribs, etc).<br/ <br/ Two years ago this would have been a solid 4.5 (because nothings perfect) but because of the drop over the years a 3.5 seems fair because it is still the best (to me) but i know the potential and it 's just not there anymore.<br/ <br/ TRY IT you won 't regret it
Nice hotpot place that open till late, food was fresh and portion was large. Just that the food comes a bit slow, and they forgotten our drink order.
A favourite hang out. With the closure of Yip Kee 2 next door there was a pang of discomfort that our little Chinatown spot would be gone forever. Not so with the arrival of Happy Family Inn to take up the mantle of late night feed and fun emporium.<br/ <br/ It's a similar menu to what you'll find in most of Chinatown, but it's little personal touches that make this place special. As a regular here, it's the extra effort in the small things, how chewy the noodles are, extra soy for that guy, no bok choy for this guy, give her extra chilli, etc, etc... <br/ <br/ That's why we like this place and the fact that there are some interesting specialities of the chef on the menu. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome, this place is like a warm hug after a hard day's work.
Was here for dinner on a Friday night, service is great, food was amazing, the beef cooked with garlic was exceptional. Will definitely be back again for more.
Pretty decent. The food is for the people who like spicy chili flavour. It was my first time here for dinner. I ordered mini hot pot. I didn't know that for the mini one, you will get it cooked in the kitchen. Didn't like the aftertaste, but hubby likes it. Service was okay.
