The fish and chips at this restaurant are crispy and fresh, and very well prepared. I love them. The only downside is that you may have to wait a bit for your order due to how busy they are.
In the past 5 years, we have always made a stop at Lone Wolf to quickly grab some fish and chips. Each year, we hoped that the fish would be as amazing as it was when the place had a run-down appearance, with a turquoise Lone Wolf Kitchens truck on the side of the road. During that time, the hard-working young owner would source freshly caught white fish every morning, making the fish absolutely perfect. We used to eat there 2-3 times a week while on vacation in Tobermory. However, when the place was sold to new owners, the quality began to decline. Prices went up and the new owners replaced the white fish with sea trout on the menu. It seemed like the sea trout was disappointing, as people came specifically to try the white fish. Whenever we tried to order the white fish, we were always told that it was sold out. After some hesitation, we decided to give Lone Wolf another try and ordered two orders of pickerel with fries. The cost was nearly $40 and the meal was greasy, with very few pieces of fish and subpar fries. My daughter barely ate any of her portion, and we ended up throwing the rest away because it was so bad. A few hours later, I became sick. Unfortunately, this will be our last time eating at Lone Wolf. The restaurant used to have the best fish and chips in Tobermory, but those days seem to be long gone. We miss the old turquoise truck and the previous owner, and it would be nice to see them return.
The lone wolf fish and chips place was earlier pretty good, but it has gone dramatic downhill. at our last visit the fish was gone and it was obvious that they caught the fries again. only the tiny bits of the cole Slav were removed...fresh such a canvas was so a great place for fresh fish no longer obvious. we are not coming back.
Mmm...freshly caught meaty and flaky Georgian Bay whitefish in a light, crispy, and nicely seasoned batter! What could be better? Tasty coleslaw and tartar sauce compliment the fish, and fresh crispy chips round it all out. Friendly staff, fast service, and a convenient stop as we left a rainy Tobermory.
