So I am forming Oaxacans who have eaten their food for centuries, in this form, in tempo and surroundings, and now visitors can enjoy a bit of it. Everything in this modest and no frills restaurant is...spot before, from the food you cannot find in many places, to the most traditional and famous dishes. We have to try out a few dishes we've never eaten, and some of them were beaten. What a little treat we have to enjoy at the first lunch in Oaxaca. This place is not to be missed!
I have been living in Oaxaca for more than 10 years and during the first visits to Itanoni everything was great. After joining international groups (Uber eats and BNI), they have just deteriorated their service, but improved their infrastructure. And also their prices increased. Now I'm going to look for tetelas and other corn flours on local markets.
This restaurant was very recommended. decided to try. Ordnete Duplicate is ordered to take one and eat the other. While the waiters were really nice, it took a while to take my order. After an hour passed, I asked one of them about my order and they finally brought two of the three things I had ordered. Since I had an appointment, I asked the check. To my surprise I was charged for everything! I had to ask her to correct the bill twice. The food also didn't have such a good taste, so the only good thing from this that I don't get the rest. It's a shame I'm looking forward to it.
I went to this restaurant because a good friend recommended it but I don’t think what the big deal is. Yes, they make their own tortillas with criollo maiz but you can’t really tell the difference. The tacos are like burritos, really big, so be...careful when you order them, it might be too much. Maybe the way they marinate the meat is OK but there is no like extra sauces or anything, so I’d call it very avarage. There were a lot if foreigners there so it seems like people like it and recommend it, but don’t get your hopes up. The pan de elote for dessert was more like a budin too. They do have nice agua de jamaica, and use biodegradable plastic. With having so many people coning though, I don’t understand why they haven’t made it a little bit prettier.
If you 're looking for American service and American Mexican food, don 't come here. You 'll be mad. Itanoni serves up food that is stripped down to the basics. Criollo corn, natural, simple flavor profiles and ingredients. Service can be slow, so don 't come here (or anywhere...lol) if you 're in a hurry. Mexicans take meal time seriously and they expect you to sit, enjoy your time/space/conversation, etc. You will have to *ask* for the bill when you 're ready. If you want to taste some local food in a non-street setting, try Itanoni.
