Harbor House Cafe - Oceanside

While I am not one to usually complain, my first visit to this restaurant was not the most pleasant. We seated ourselves and waited a long time to be greeted by a waitress, who seemed preoccupied chatting at the bar. When our meals arrived, our steaks were mixed up, and mine was overcooked. The waitress was understanding and took it back, but unfortunately, it was still not cooked properly when it returned. By the time I received my steak, I had already finished my meal. Despite this, the coffee cake was delicious.

I am giving this restaurant just one star because the coffee was good. However, there were not many options on the children's menu, and when we requested a hard-cooked egg for our child, they refused. The owner, who I assume is Hispanic, was not very friendly and seemed to be in charge of the other servers. I did not feel warmly welcomed and would not return to this establishment. We ended up just having coffee and struggled to pay our bill. I noticed another family with a similar experience, as well as a few customers who left after taking a bite of their food.

1st timers we're ready to go back. Food was amazing, large portion sizes meant we got another taste later that day.Will be back, but hope they remember to apply our discount next time.

We dined here for breakfast on a Monday morning. They offer a good selection of breakfast and lunch items on their menu plus about 6-8 daily specials. I chose french toast with bananas and walnuts, with a little dusting of powdered sugar. We were escorted to a booth and immediatly offered a cup of coffee. While we waited only a brief time for our food, our waitress retured twice to refill our coffees. The food was hot, delicious and presented wonderfully. Syrup and creamer are furnished on the table so there's no need to catch someone's eye for more, if needed. The service was excellent and friendly. I'm looking forward to our next visit. Maybe we'll have breakfast on their covered patio next time.

It's a diner, cafe. Average menu. People were friendly. My glass was broken. When I mentioned it the waitress seem to be upset about me bringing it to her attention. Probably won't go back. I guess it's worth one try .
