Nobody comes to the table, even though the restaurant is less than 1/4 full. The waiters keep going back and forth to the same tables because they get the orders wrong. 3. We loose patience and go looking for menus. We find them by the counter, bring them to the table and make a choice. Another 15 minutes pass before we are able to get someone to take our order. 4. We order food and three drinks. 5. The waiter comes back and has gotten two out of three drink orders wrong. 6. He come back with the correct drinks. 7. We get the food. It is good quality. The problem isn’t the kitchen staff but the waiters. However, what appeared to be a mains on the menu is a tiny dish. We later understand that there’s also a set menu, but we could not have known since it was not on the menu. 8. We are contemplating dessert. It would be good, since the mains were small, but is it worth the wait? 9. The waiter comes with bread, olives and pickles. “I think they did not bring you this”. We say it is too late for that, and order desserts. She says “Don’t worry”. 10. The waiter comes back and say that they don’t have two of the four desserts we order. We find alternatives. 11. We eat dessert and ask for the bill. 12. We leave, grateful that we only came for dinner and didn’t pay €423 per night to stay here (and have to eat at the restaurant)
I honestly can 't think of a worse service than the one we received tonight, starting with a disgausting long hairs burried in one of the bread service spreads. Not only did we not receive a proactive replacement or any kind of goodwill compensation, but we noticed that it was charged on the final bill. The situation only worsened afterwards. Pedro, the supervisor, sent his waiter insisting we pay for the bread, we thought it was a joke. He changed his mind after speaking with us and realizing how absurd it was, and he also offered deserts. We were already fed up with this, so we simply requested the charge be removed. We were then approached by one of his waiters, who again suggested dessert/coffee as a gesture. This time, we agreed. When we asked for the final bill, guess what? The good will dessert is now included in the bill. I 'll cut short the long story here, but let me just say that we ended this evening with a dreadful feeling . The two of us couldn 't stand one more moment there, or yet another meaningless conversation with the supervisor so we paid and left. The staff does not know how to treat a customer, there is no communication between the staff (including the supervisor blaming the waiters, saying he 's young , and it is definitely not a chef restaurant Despite the fact that they charge as such! This is not the type of place we will return to!
When we were there Aug 24, for a 9 p.m. dinner booking which is not at all late in Europe, I understand that , the place was full of shrieking, running, tumbling children who were banging metal truck toys on a metal structure and riding apparently facility provided tractor themed pedal cars throughout the restaurant. At one point a child was trying to grab a dog under our table and the dog started barking threateningly; one staff member and a parent ? eventually intervened. On top of that the steak was just OK, the potatoes were, um, potatoes and the tomato quarters were like something you’d get out of season, rather than in August. Unless you’re a masochist who’s idea of heaven is being tortured by kids under 6 while inattentive parents blithely eat and visit with each other, stay away very, very far away. I’ll give the service a good score because our poor waitress did as much as she could to ameliorate the situation and we tipped her accordingly.
With such excellent reviews, we made a reservation for dinner at Craveiral. Even so, we stayed more than 10 minutes waiting to be sited in a half full restaurant due to total discoordination from the staff. We asked for 3 different starters, which arrived separately and we had to wait so long for the last one that we thought they forgot about it. Fish rice was one of the main dishes and it was nearly unpalatable due to the amount of salt. Very disappointing service and food for a restaurant with a rewarded chef.
The food was really good. We had pizza and it tasted amazing. Really thin crust and tasty ingredients. The concept of the place is also really nice (from garden to the kitchen) and the staff was all really friendly and pro. A place to visit if you’re in or around Sao Teotónio.
