On normal days it would be understandable that a volunteer would not be available, but if there was a free admission to the entire museum for a festival, it would not be too much of a route to expect a volunteer at each station. Please note. I set my admission as free, because it was to celebrate a festival that
The reception was very nice and explained the layout to me. I loved the little cowboy section, of course the train section, and the antique cars were really cool. Joe was the leader of the firearms department, and he was amazing. We talked to guns for a while. Overall really friendly staff and volunteers, I just can't remember all names.
Oh, man, we love this place so much. What a great museum. My boys are obsessed with the small train models that go around the different tracks. My only negative in this place is that the one man who is often in the Browning pistol part is really not super patient with children. I want my children to go to museums and think that learning is fun, so I want it to be a positive experience. He never took care of my children, but I took him several times with other children before he makes normal children, how to ask him a question while he finished a sentence. This kind of thing doesn't fly with this man. And no, kids shouldn't do this, but they still learn and I think they could give some grace. It's not like they've blurred something irrelevant while he said they listened to him and learned and interested themselves. Anyway, everything else is great. This guy emphasizes me.
Do you have a train lover? This was a wonderful museum, full of great train information. For cost it is worth what you pay. It wasn't too busy, but it wasn't packed. The look at the old trains was cool, including reading about them. The trip includes entry to a mini car museum: cool, but underwhelming. You said there was a new director who hopefully would live up the auto department. There is also a Browning pistol section. Good information about the weapon/company through the years. Our trainer lover and family had a good time.
Cool spot/museum to visit if you enjoy learning about trains. There were several full size trains displayed outside. They also had a classic cars and firearms exhibit. Museum is located downtown Ogden so it's very close to other places/eateries to visit.
