Debbie's is our favorite place to bring out-of-town friends. We love the setting which is like our home away from home. We feast on the aroma as much as the food. The pizza is the BEST, clearly in a class by itself!
A small order of onion rings, a (very very small Stromboli with a medium cup of sauce, and a “quart” size fountain soda ran me $12.56. I only wish I had taken a picture, because that’s the only way you would understand how disappointing this meal was. I have frequented this shop many times in the past but it seems like every time I go in there, the portions get smaller and the prices get bigger. The stromboli – which is my favorite in the area – was just pitiful. Tiny. I would be surprised if there were more than a couple ounces of meat and cheese inside it. It tasted fine; it just wasn’t worth nearly seven dollars. My husband already boycotts the place because of the ridiculous prices. I think Debbie’s only stays in business because they have a loyal following in the area; they’ve been around for 25+ years. For me, the only reason I still go there is because A. it’s a convenient place for me my friends to meet every couple of months and B. I really do love the taste of the stromboli.
Decided to see for myself. Went at lunchtime. Wasn't busy, service was fast, polite and with a smile. Ordered a sub. Absolutely nothing wrong, but nothing special either, grocery store bun, could have been just as satisfied if I'd made it myself.
The chicken Parmesan sandwich was tasty, with plenty of meat and a flavorful sauce. The house-made chili was just as good. The garden salad was a disappointment, mostly iceberg lettuce. My friends' pizza looked quite good. Ice cream and ice cream-based treats seem to be the high note. The mint milkshake was perfection. Staff is friendly, but food service is a bit slow. It's not a fast food joint! Worthy of a repeat visit, for sure.
