Solution: buy them in a box of 6.
Occupying 1/3 of Shelter (a lifestyle shop/showroom Gigi's offer a place for tired feet to rest and get your sugar fix with yummy cupcakes. Love the ambiance and the coffee. Even though I am not a fan of all things sugary their salt-chocolate cupcake caught my fancy. ;
It's located inside Shelter Home Design... not very easy to spot, just like any other treasure. : It's relatively cheaper, a cupcake costs only PhP50. We ordered Coffee Cupcake, Buttercream Cupcake (which were too sweet for me and Red Velvet Cupcake (just perfect . Will definitely come back to try other cupcakes and their drinks too.
I was walking in Shangri-La last night waiting for Pau to meet me when I saw Shelter and GIGI Coffee and Cupcakes. I know I've seen this place before but I just never got around to actually going in and checking out what's inside. I resolved that last night and even bought myself a cupcake from Gigi to complete the experience. Located inside Shelter was a little space alloted for Gigi. They had a slew of various caffeinated drinks and of course sold different flavored cupcakes. I tried their Red Velvet cupcake and thought it wasn't too bad. The cream cheese frosting was a tad sweeter than I like my red velvet cupcakes to be but the actual sponge cake was really good, very moist and tasty in my opinion. Gigi had a couple of tables and seats customers can stay in while drinking their coffees and/or eating their cupcakes. I am pretty interested to try out their coffees though so I'll be sure to return one of these days for that.
I'm not much into cupcakes. I usually find them too artificially colorful, too sweet and quite dry that it's hard to swallow. One time, walking in the mall, I came across the kiosk of Gigi with their cupcakes neatly displayed. They seemed to be just the right size and of the right colors. I checked the price list and found it to be quite reasonable. I got a box of 6 to go with assorted kinds for sampling. When i tried them at home I was happy with my discovery. I particularly liked the Red Velvet cupcake. It was moist, evenly flavored and had the right sweetness. I also liked the frosting on top which perfectly complements the cake. One thing notable about Gigi's cupcakes is that it can stay soft and moist for a few days. You can have the same enjoyment even 2 days after you bought it. I'd say good for bringing along to get togethers or for giving out as gifts on special occasions.
