However, I recently tried a small pastry at a restaurant that pleasantly surprised me. Despite its unassuming appearance, the pastry, which resembled a small croissant, was delicious. I couldn't even pronounce or spell what it was called, but I decided to give it a try so I could write about it later on Yelp. I'm grateful that I took the chance because it was truly fantastic. I opted for the blueberry cheese flavor, not because of the unique combination, but because it was simply delicious. I highly recommend giving it a try if you happen to come across this restaurant.
One of the main reasons I frequent Brasserie Cicou in Annapolis is for their delicious Kouign Amann pastry. Despite not usually being a fan of desserts, I couldn't resist the rich caramel butter flavor of this crunchy cake. However, I struggle to finish a full order as the high fat content in the flaky pastry could potentially raise my cholesterol levels. Luckily, Chef Cyrille from Brasserie Cicou has opened KA by Cicou on the second floor of SM Megamall. This kiosk offers various flavors of the European pastry in smaller sizes, making me feel less guilty when indulging. While I still prefer the original caramel flavor, there are other options such as blueberry, ensaymada, chocolate, choconut, and lemon available. The price for each piece ranges from PHP 45.00 to PHP 55.00, but for a more budget-friendly option, you can try the kouignettes or bite-size portions for only PHP 15.00 each.
