Lunch at Mama's was a much anticipated event after hearing recommendations from friends and seeing so many great online reviews. We enjoyed our meal here especially the caring service from Noah and all the others (including the extra attention paid by the entire staff to our dietary preferences every plate for members of our party who had specific requirements was adorned by an orchid to emphasize that the chef acknowledged ensured the dish was safe). The grounds and dining room are beautiful and the fresh flowers are absolutely stunning. Be prepared to spend top dollar. The dining room is open air with fans on a hot and humid day, as was the case when we came, it felt sticky and we all wished for air conditioning. Dietary restrictions: Amazing attention to dietary restrictions and allergies; easy swaps modifications to accommodate people on a special diet. Kid friendliness: Our 6 yrs old was well attended to; wicky stix were a HUGE hit and kept him occupied the entire time
Great food great view requires reservations worth the trip. Broke tha mouth
Good steam fish and wilde boar. Kid-friendliness: Kids liked food and atmosphere. They had kids meals offering some small activity pack. Outside is the beach as well.
It 's hard to write a review leaving only 4 stars for a place that is so beloved by many (as evidenced by the need to book reservations months in advance), but sometimes the hype really hurts a place like Mama 's. We skipped the reservations and opted to walk in for bar seating at lunch. Credit has to go to Mama 's for the ambience and service. It was quite excellent. The staff and location were top notch, really capturing that retro island vibe. Bar staff, Tom and Jill were great. Drinks: Mai Tai and Espresso Martini were great. Would recommend to anyone. Food: overall my impression was that the food was good, but nothing was special. At nearly 70 dollars an entree, you are looking for that something extra. The seared ahi appetizer was good but unremarkable. The stuffed Kanpachi, a long standing menu item, was somewhat of a disappointment. However the our selection of the fresh catch (got the uku with caramelized onions, chili and avocado) was a bright spot and was quite good. Would also like to note that they were very accommodating of gluten free diners. . Go for the ambience, on the food.
