My boyfriend said it really tastes like the one in Haïti. It didnt take long before we got our meal. Everything looked really clean and they made it nice. The taste was okay. I have had better Haïtian food. Ir looked like the guy wasn't prepared for 4 tables in a short time. He did his best and served us well!
Paris is not known for spicy food, and I had a serious craving for something that had a nice kick! That's when I started my Google Search for a Caribbean Restaurant in Paris. I knew that I wasn't going to venture into Jamaican food here, but French Caribbean food would probably be my best bet. I found Twoubadou by chance and am very happy that I did. The food was so great that we actually went back twice in less than a week, which says a lot since the restaurant is a 45 min trek from where we are staying close to Trocadero. Well worth the venture though. The restaurant is a newly opened, small snack bar that actually has a lovely seating area where you can sit down and enjoy your meal. The first time I did takeaway and the second time I sat down with my family to enjoy our meal. We ordered the same thing twice- which was their Twoubadou plate that comes with a selection of their Accras- which are fried dumplings with Cod fish, fried sweet plantains, Tostones (fried green plantains), Sweet Potato Fries, Grilled Chicken and rice and peas. Our second dish was their chicken dish with a spicy gravy, their black mushroom rice, plantains and pikliz (spicy coleslaw). The kitchen is open, so you can see the chef making your oder fresh. Although there is a little bit of a wait for your food, it is worth it. I've had Haitian food in Haiti, Miami, Montreal, Ottawa, Boston, NYC and Toronto, and this is by far one of the best restaurant meals that stays true to Haitian food.
