Great atmosphere, good food (S&P squid could do with less rocket and the salad additions actually mixed with the greenery and not left at the bottom of the bowl), waiting service good, bar service OK except for barman on telephone and the other person unaware that I was waiting despite calling out). Seems we were not the only "oldies" reunion, so word has got around. Try this place as I don't think you will be disappointed.
I meet with past work colleagues being retired along with most of them as well and we like to relive past work experiences along with solving the current worlds problems while enjoying a schitznel that is to die for especially if you ask for extra sauce because the small one is big and you run out of sauce if you don't ask for extra!Be aware however i think the whole menu appears good seeing what others have!Give it a go!
Lovely venue, the dining room has a nice ambience, and I particularly appreciated that the floor is carpeted as it reduces the noise and makes it easy to hear conversations. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The menu has a good variety on offer and there is a selection of gluten free and vegetarian – the menu even identifies dishes with nuts. Nice salad bar with fresh salad leaves and less traditional toppings – like feta, olives, artichokes and quinoa. The boys declared that the Dianne Sauce was the best they ever had and my Shepherds Pie was a wonderful winter comfort food – the best thing was that it was served at a temperature I could eat straight away.
Someone recommended this restaurant to us today; and told me to look on trip advisor to check out other reviews before deciding whether to go. Well based on those reviews we decided - yes let's do this. While some reviewers indicated the service wasn't good, and others weren't happy with the food, on the whole people seemed to be very positive.Well it didn't disappoint us - that's for sure. Every single person that served us was friendly and helpful. The food, including the starter bread, chicken wings, schnitzels with NYC topping and the Statesman burger were all really yummy.
We went to the Earl on the recommendation of friends and we were not disappointed. Having recently been in the UK it was like stepping back to our visit their with this authentic pub. Meal was great and huge and loved the Beef Schnitzel we all ordered. We were with our teenage daughter so we did not spend time in the Bar but would have loved to relax in their with a pint and pretend we were back in the UK!
