Unfortunately the owners sold and it is no longer functioning as a restaurant. The new owner is using it as a private lodge and with this great location will enjoy it in the coming years.
A trip to Northern Ontario wouldn't be complete without one evening dinner out at this tranquil spot.
Stayed 3 nights at a Cottage. Had breakfast and dinner for 3 nights. Food, location and service were excellent. Urs and Verena were great hosts.
This is a go to spot when I bring family and friends up to the cabin. The hosts are so friendly, food is all excellant and what a spot! Give it a go, you wont regret it except having to come back often!
To begin, getting to Old Mirror Lodge Restaurant is an experience in and of itself. as we've done many times before, we drove to a dock on Toad Lake, made a phone call from the phone on the telephone pole there, then waited a few minutes until Urs came chugging along in his pontoon boat to pick us up and take us across the lake to the lodge. It's little more than a five minute boat ride, but purely exquisite in its beauty. Upon arrival, you are seated outside (weather permitting) on a deck that overlooks Toad Lake, getting everyone into a blissful state (the wine helped too, of course)! Then the food arrives, a menu that we'd ordered before we came. I had the bruscetta as an appetizer and it was large enough to share, but almost too delicious to want to share! My main course was the crispy pickeral dinner. It was fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves fish done in a light crispy batter with magnificent flavour. Desserts were shared by all of us and were equally wonderful. I've always found the prices here are very reasonable, especially given the whole experience of it all.One of the things I always love about going to Old Mirror Lodge is the warmth and hospitality extended to everyone, by hosts Urs
