Shabu-shabu is a mainstay in the local food industry but it is usually Chinese style and sometimes Taiwanese style. This is the first time I have heard and tried of Japanese style shabu-shabu. I am a veteran of Chinese style (oily and heavy broths) and Taiwanese style (less salty and oily) shabu-shabu and I think the Japanese style is a little mix of both. Each customer is provided a cooking pot and the first step is choosing the soup base that you want. For new customers, they give you a free sample of each type for you to decide which soup base you will use for the remainder of your meal. The buffet area is where you get the vegetables, noodles, assorted meat balls and the ready to eat food like chicken wings, gyoza, rice and soup. On the other hand, the sliced meats are brought to your table directly, freshly sliced and not like other grill and shabu-shabu restaurants where they are unsanitary exposed at the buffet area. The different eat-all-you-can packages revolve around the number of meat plates you want (if numbered or unlimited) and all of them include unlimited buffet area access. I found the lunch promos quite enticing with a plate or two of the meat and then unlimited buffet access for an affordable price. Shaburi is an excellent restaurant with good food and service. I hope they open more branches soon especially nearer the Greenhills area where I live! snapsnstories.blogspot.com

To be honest, I’m not really that keen anymore on the newly opened restaurants around the Fort since I started working in Ortigas. Guess I rarely venture out of the Ortigas vicinity these days save for some special occasions like this. To give you a briefer, in case you’re like me who isn’t really updated anymore on the foodie scene out there in BGC here’s a little 411 for you ???? Shaburi is an all-you-can-eat healthy shabu-shabu brand from Japan that offers unlimited premium meats, fresh seafood, organic vegetables and a selection of appetizers. Upon getting to the venue, we were immediately ushered to our seats like VIP guests. Unlike other shabu-shabu restaurants that have one communal pot for cooking, Shaburi offers each guest their own personal pot. There are five premium soups on their menu–Original Konbu, Sukiyaki, Paitan Chicken Collagen, Soy Milk Miso and Hot Miso. All are made from fresh vegetables and selected ingredients that promises health benefits. You will be presented with the different options by their waiter. Note that the soup isn’t refillable but their seafood water is! ???? So choose your soup wisely ???? Aside from the soup, fresh vegetables and other hotpot toppings what would make you come back and frequent this place is their UNLIMITED WAGYU BEEF! Now who can resist that right? I’m sure I can’t! ???? . Shaburi uses Wagyu beef from Australia, so you’re guaranteed good quality meat. I think I went back to the buffet table for a total of 4 times trying to scour around for toppings I might have missed out on. My personal favorites were of course their mushrooms, their tofu and their soft served ice cream! It was definitely something noteworthy due to their unlimited wagyu beef and their good customer service. Their fully attentive staff made sure that we weren’t left wanting and that all our needs were properly tended to. Will surely come back with my family one of these days.

Shaburi is a great shabu shabu restaurant. It also helps that they have a buffet to go with their all you can meat package. We got the regular beef and it was already ok with us. We got the original konbu soup base. Then I got the ponzu dipping sauce and place a little of the crushed garlic to give it some kick. The beef cooked from the konbu soup base was perfect for the dipping sauce. Loved the taste and will definitely go back for more. The 90 minute time limit was more than enough. It also helped that each has a small cooker to really personalize your meal. Overall, we loved the food. The service was ok and the ambience too.
