The menu is small, the dishes are very classic, but the food remains quite decent. We had good cod, delicious vegetables, good shells, a basic dessert, a good veal. The staff is helpful, the view of the sea is as great as ever. Worth another try.
This may be my 2nd or 3rd review of the Doris and I am sorry to say that this time it was not a good experience... very disappointed by the quality of the food.and the feeling of a descent a tourist trap. The Coquille St jacques...taste just like the ones you can buy from Leclerc Supermarché (not very good and the fish nets were so boiled to wonder if they were fresh in the first place..The desserts (professional oles were the frozen type (like the ones you buy in the Supermarché... I can understand some of the not so positive reviews. If you don't come back, it feels the worst... There are some seafood restaurants not very far that served much better quality products at fair prices!
Guarded for a drink/coffee and sat on the outside terrace. We were discovered by the waitress and immediately ignored. A few minutes later, after employees had passed (which I never found out) and never once asked if we wanted anything, went in and asked to be served. Two cafes au lait were produced, but the demand for additional hot milk went like a dam. We put money on the table and left at this point.
Unassuming, service very slightly eccentric, largely French customers, not cheap, but fish isn’t, and the food, well just perfectly fresh and superb. We had the fruit de mer which is a Breton speciality which was just fabulous. It was recommended to us as the best...fish restaurant in Finistere and I don’t think we would argue with that.
Having been served very ordinary food for ridiculous money in this corner of Brittany we were a little nervous about coming here for our “ Sunday lunch” The climb up the narrow steps to the restaurant is not for the faint hearted and the interior...decor is like something from “ allo allo” The lady in charge Doris? flustered around and eventually found our table then left us for a while to drink in the scene — lots of locals of a certain age who were obviously regulars we couldn’t see much difference between the 37 euro menu and the 24euro one so we opted for the latter .— good choice What we thought might be a bit of crab meat in mayonnaise turned out to be a whole crab as big as a dinner plate — taking the best part of an hour to pick out the tasty bits The mussels too were those delicious small sweet ones in a creamy sauce . The main course of white fish potatoes and vegetables was followed by profiteroles and peach Melba A bottle of Beaujolais brought the final bill for 3 to around 90 euros We were happy to leave a generous tip before heading home to sleep it off By far the best meal we’ve had on our French getaway — both in quality and value This place is not to be missed — but book in advance like the locals do !
