The ingredients were chosen wisely to highlight the fish. There was very little use of heavy sauces and unnecessary garnishes (which can sometimes overpower the sushi). They were extremely conscientious regarding a food allergy and made sure to put us at ease by explaining their process of preparing the meal in a way that would minimize allergen exposure. The waitstaff worked together seamlessly. Our water glasses were topped off often and they cleared dirty dishes from the table so promptly. We were very pleased with the whole experience and would absolutely go here again the next time we make it to Kauai.
Its a beautiful sushi restaurant, pretty expensive, the kitchen closes at 9:30 so make sure you go earlier, the server wasn't really helpful explaining the menu ,but overall the food was delicious.
This is a must if you’re on Kauai! Amazing sushi and Japanese food and beautiful setting. Everything I’ve had here is delicious! My favorites are the sushi pizza (I know, it sounds weird), the lobster dynamite (try it with a bowl of sushi rice), and the black rock roll. The past couple times I’ve gone my server has been Johnny. He’s AWESOME! Super friendly and helpful, so if you’re able to request him, I’d definitely do that. We are so glad Stevenson’s has reopened! Make sure to make a reservation and treat yourself!
Location, interior, food service and staff everything is perfect. Beautiful view to the ocean, life music, excellent cocktails, the atmosphere was awesome. A few words about food, unfortunately it does not reach the level of the restaurant, I understand that salmon is most likely transported from the mainland, but tuna should be as fresh and tasty as it possible. I ordered O toro and Chu toro, the most tender parts of the tuna, but they weren't as tender as should be. I expected that tuna in this level of Hawaiian restaurant is much higher quality than on the mainland, but this is not so.
I enjoyed the library vibe of this restaurant/bar. We had the local fish, Ono and Maguro nigiri. Both were tasty. The maki win of the night was the Black Rock Maki with Ahi Tuna and Shrimp Tempura.
