The Barking Dog - Poquoson

I love specialty dogs and burgers. This place is a great choice for cheap eats! Food was fresh and delicious. The bartender was awesome. He made sure we always had a cold one ready to go and was very personable. Only wish we had gone there more during our week stay in the area.

Simple menu, mostly hotdogs with various condiments, but very delicious. The fries are very good, and the diablo dog (spicy) is highly recommended. Drinks are done via can or bottles, but that allows for a pretty good variety of local micro breweries. Service is friendly and quick, but don't expect any frills.

For years, my girlfriend and I would head to the Barking Dog in Hampton to chow down on their custom-made dogs. Every time we stopped by, we left satisfied. Turns out there are other locations in the area which we already knew about. One of them is in Poquoson, which is actually a little closer to us. So we decided to stop by and check them out. From the jump, this one is better. It is completely indoors and with perfect ventilation. Now Hampton is good but during the summers it can get a bit hot. They are located off the pier after all so it's no surprise regarding weather changes. And regarding service, this location is the same. Our waitress promptly greeted us and took our orders. For our app, we picked the onion rings basket with dipping sauce. Fresh and hot. And all for $3.50. You definitely can't beat that! The rings were perfect with a crunch and the sauce was a great compliment. For our main course, we both ordered alligator sausage (I had mustard, grilled onions and sauerkraut as toppings . Nicely cooked and with the right amount of spice. And it was the right call to not include a side of fries since the onion rings basket was pretty big to share. Overall, a nice evening. We will definitely return to this spot :

Oh the hot dogs are wonderful you like hot dogs you sure try this place they got everything for hot dogs.
