I learned so many new and interesting things from visiting the center, meeting new people, and enjoying a sail on the AJ Meerwald tall ship schooner, which was built on the Maurice River and used for oystering on the Bay back in the day. Delicious food on site as well. Lots of neat spots and roads nearby!
What a great experience we had at the Bayshore Center!!! Museum staff member was friendly and helpful. We attended the Sip and Sails, 2.5 hour sail, beer from the Glasstown Brewery, cheese plate, education about the history of the A J Meerwald, and the opportunity to assist in raising her sails! I love their mission of educating children about the history of the Oyster industry and this beautiful schooner, sailing, and environment. They are a non-profit, doing great work, and we are looking forward to heading back soon!
First off they are not closed. Very interesting history of the Oyster industry that was there. Very well done museum and all the staff were great. The ride on the boat turned out to be more fun than just a ride. They were short on crew ,so us passengers helped hoist the sails. Also there is protected marsh lands nearby that are worth looking at.
A gem of the Bayshore, you learn a lot and get to visit a beautiful area few know about outside of the region.
We went for the oyster festival and had such a great time
