We recommend: Celery, parsley coriander cream soup The pheasant, delicious. The pineapple with coconut avocado watercress ice-cream. Great location, close to the Charles bridge, 5 min walk.
Outstanding. We were in town for our anniversary, and 2 hours before dinner decided to look for a wine bar for dinner. Nothing really struck our fancy, as we'd either have to walk more than 10-15 minutes (we'd done a LOT of walking that day , and/or they didn't serve true dinner. Cue Red Pif. We easily secured a reservation through their online system and ended up arriving 20 minutes early. We were quickly seating and completely doted on our entire meal. Our server was very helpful and beautiful selected wines for us throughout our meal to pair with our various courses. The whole team knew just when to come by and check on us, and when to let us enjoy. Excellent service. The wine was exceptional. We started with a sparking wine from Germany, which was lovely. And continued with a FANTASTIC red from Moravia, as well as a dessert wine from the same region. The dessert wine was almost as good as the red- but to give you an idea, my husband (who never cares for dessert wine, or whites asked for a second glass! Its no exaggeration that Red Pif knows their stuff. Now for the eats. We started with what was described as venison carpaccio (I forget what they named it on the menu , as well as 6 oysters on the half shell. Both were very good and well portioned. I was really amazed by the venison, as I'd never had it prepared like that before (I believe they said it was brined? . For our meals, I had the mushroom risotto with beef spare ribs. It was, again, outstanding. I wasn't even asked how I wanted my meat cooked, and it came out perfectly medium. A sign of a true chef, in my opinion. My husband got the corn fed chicken. His was very good, as well. For dessert, we got some kind of apple/brandy/cream dish that was just lovely. Not heavy at all, and a perfect end. This is also where the chef himself made an appearance. He came out to add a finishing touch to the dessert, which I thought showed a lot about the level of dedication and detail this place produced. All in all, this restaurant was amazing. We will be going back. The prices were wonderful, too.
The food is well prepared, fresh and tasty. The decoration of the restaurant is very nice, I recommend this place
This is one of the best wine-bar&restaurants I've been in Prague. WIth central location, spacey interior, well balanced wine list and very good food Red Pif has great potential. From the very begining what cought my attention was very nice and professional service. The food menu was rather small, and this time it included only mashroom dishes. It was a great selection of different ways to approach mushrooms, from soup through pasta, risotto to meat and dessert. Accompanied by good wines, suggested to every dish, the degustation menu was a real taste joy. I don't like big menus and I value restaurants which are clearly defined. I think it is good idea to have this contextual food list like we had in Red Pif. But going too far both directions is dangerous. If I hadn't had taste for mushrooms yesterday, I could not eat anything else there. And also going through tasting menu, the mashroom flavour was not balanced enough and it dominated every dish, which in the end gave a unpleasant stuffed like feeling. That is why I gave 4 stars. I think Red Pif is going the right path, I do recommend to balance the menu little bit, not to bet everything on one, like mashroom, card. I will be gladly back to check it again !
The menu has gotten smaller, and the portion sizes have not gotten bigger. Great food, but the concept and execution is off the mark. And the don't have a proper wine list with prices and that is always annoying.
