The atmosphere of this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon is the perfect way to end off, or start, the week.<br/ <br/ We ordered from the specials menu and started our lunch off with the Fig and Goat's Cheese Tart. Certainly a new favourite that tantalises the taste buds.<br/ <br/ Next we had the Rigatoni Carbonara and New Kid Pizza. Very filling and we wondered whether we would want to dessert, but who can say no to Chocolate Fudge Pudding, complete with peanut butter ice cream?<br/ <br/ A lovely and inviting atmosphere where you can escape the buzz of the city. A must!
This delightful spot is in Mooiplaats, Pretoria, so it does feel like a bit of an escape from city life. Complete with a bit of dirt road to travel on. Us city dwellers need that now and again! <br/ <br/ The warm and welcoming ambience immediately transported us back to our time spent in the Cape Winelands a week or so ago. Bliss!<br/ <br/ We arrived just as the doors opened, and I realized soon afterwards that we were probably very lucky to get a table without a reservation, so that is something to remember next time. <br/ <br/ The wine list is concise but really impressive and we immediately recognized some personal favourites. <br/ <br/ You can expect country style comfort food that is absolutely delicious and prepared and presented beautifully. <br/ <br/ I opted for the wild mushroom risotto and believe me, it was divine! Served with asparagus and chickpea fritters, this was such a tasty and hearty dish. It was a good sized portion (in my words large) and I finished all of it! Every last bite.<br/ <br/ My hubby had the Italia pizza (with added anchovies) and it truly was a feast for the eyes. I didn't taste it, but he thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe next time!<br/ <br/ I only realized recently that the legendary Chef Pellie Grobler is at the helm of this restaurant. The quality of the meals speaks volumes! Continuing his mission to change Pretoria one meal at a time. Great job!<br/ <br/ We will definitely be back I saw quite a few dishes on the menu that I will be dreaming about until then! Oh yes, and that wild mushroom risotto.
We went there today for our anniversary and at first i thought, a café mmm it's not going to be so wow and fancy (and i like fancy). But to my surprise this place was warm, inviting and not a café at all. The food was outstanding. The waiter forgot about us a few times, but we had good wine and good food and what more do you need.Let's say that i was so into the food i forgot to take pictures haha. We had the calamari stuffed with prawn for starter, duck for main.
Couldn’t have chosen a better place for Sunday Lunch in this beautiful and quite restaurant. And luck would have it I was meant to eat here because we got the last available table, so my advice would be to book in advance so that you are on the safer side. Service was very friendly and I must say I enjoyed their pizza thoroughly, sadly I wasn’t particularly hungry so couldn’t explore the food much but I’ll definitely come back here, doesn’t even feel like you are in Pretoria anymore. A definite must try.
Have visited many times. Great food. Great wine. Good and friendly service. Relaxing outdoor setting. Ambience is awesome. Always a winner, for us!
