The only drawback is how small the restaurant part is, but it is really not that big of a deal, only they can only a small amount of guests is everything. But it's a nice restaurant winery, one of my favorites! I highly recommend it!
My family and I decided to take a trip to PG to visit this winery as my mother got married and maybe wanted her wedding at the venue. To our surprise, it was the worst customer service we experienced. We understand the lack of personnel, but this is not an excuse. We spent more than $500 for our bill and the server let us know that we don't have an option to tap as we had a larger group. Well, one of these group members is 11 and should have been included. I'm not sure why a forced tip is something you have, we shouldn't pay for a service we haven't experienced. It's just a bad business practice. You would think that if you were to a winery they would explain the different wines they offer, and the notes you may not taste a single person new a single thing. We had to hunt servers to get more drinks, or to get the table of old plates and cups, at one point a family member did it to them themselves. I strongly recommend where to go for a winery experience. Also page are not some of us on the monthly wine subscription and therefore it will break.
We were presented in Northern Lights Estate Winery by a local friend who lives in Prince George. The winery is known for wines other than grapes. Unfortunately we could not dine in their restaurant or terrace when we were there, as it was outside their service times, it also poured rain on their terrace. It would have been nice to relax and eat there for lunch. Due to the weather we were basically the only ones there, we were immediately welcomed and requested for a free wine tasting. We basically tried most of the wines they produce, the most remarkable for me were the seduction, the Ursa and Blueberry Port. The seduction is her best-selling wine I can see why, as you exhale it from the wine glass, you can smell the hit of strawberries. All their wines were quite different from traditional wine, it has all fruit notes, but less tannins. Our sommelier was friendly and knowledgeable, walk us through every wine and make food pairing suggestions. In the end we have 2 boxes of different wines, as they are not very common. I think you can get the Seduction wine at BC Liquor. Will definitely pass for another visit when we go back to Prince George.
We look forward to a visit to our journey from the inside, and Northern Lights have not disappointed! We were there for lunch on June 28th. The food, the view, the staff (especially Jesse), and especially the wine were all spectacular! We have observed a thunderstorm of the city while sharing the amazing desserts together. It was the best food experience I had on this trip with my children! Thank you.
Drinks were good and staff friendly with a nice location. What let the place down was the food. Visited for lunch and nothing was that great. I ordered the montreal smoked meat sandwich and the meat didn't taste smoked and felt store bought. It must have had half a jar of wholegrain mustard that totally ruined the sandwich. Also store bought coleslaw is the only side that they offer. Feels like it is the easiest and cheapest for them. I understand there are not many places like this in PG but paying $20 for a sandwich I would expect better.
