I wanted to eat authentic Mexican food without faff. one of the first things that was told me by the waiter after, I had been shown on my table and sat down "cash only i said...ok with me. it wasn't like breaking the bank. the chicken burritos. beautiful glands, but huh was really hard. a kind of felt left alone and not really welcome there. much better place to eat in the city. so a shame how much better could be with little.
I have lived 11 years in puerto vallarta. I visited la chata many years ago at her location in the centro historico in guadalajara, but began to go here at the location of the picturesquecon when it was opened a few years ago. in the did, I. often brought guests from the city there because it is a great place to observe the sunset. I've never found her eating as extraordinary, but until yesterday it was always good enough. I ordered chicken enchiladas in a maul sauce. not only was it terrible, it was perhaps the worst food I ever had in a restaurant in pw! the tortillas that were used to the enchiladas were either very old or the enchiladas were extremely overcooked. they were as hard as hide. I should have complained and asked for another meal. I doubt I'll ever go back there. I've rated this experience with a circle, but it didn't even deserve it.
I live in Puerto Vallarta and took my visiting cousin there last night. It's one of her favorite restaurants here due to the correctly made guacamole, other good traditional Mexican dishes, generous portions and wonderful view of the ocean with lots of windows and balconies....This is a very minor issue, but they have the flimsiest paper napkins I have ever seen, far too thin like tissue paper. When you're eating oily chips and need to wipe your hands it requires several of their napkins. They are not even thick or large enough to protect your clothes if some salsa accidentally drips in your lap. I do not object to paper napkins in general, but La Chata's napkins must be the cheapest in all of Mexico.
Si eres turista y quieres probar comida de restaurante la chata es ideal. Tiene comida típica y de muy buen sabor. Pocas veces los restaurantes conservan el sabor casero como este.
