After a month here, we finally had a chance to dine at this new place. Friendly service, great prices and excellent food. My partner enjoyed garlic shrimp while I had an immense Thai beef salad which he ended up sharing with me. Thanks Faith for a lovely time! This place should be on everyone's 'must try' list.
I have eaten at this wonderful restaurant on a couple of occasions & would like to say "I have had great food"! The owners Terry & Faith are very friendly & very accommodating. Their Spaghetti Bolognese has to be one of the best I have ever had & their House salad is very fresh & comes with home made dressing. Not to say the least, very large portions.I highly recommend this restaurant as they have a very diverse menu.Bryan (Vancouver B.C., Canada)
Went for lunch with my girlfriend and we were greeted by one of the owners. She was very friendly and accommodating and soft spoken. The husband owner looked like his dog died, very miserable, just stay home. We were asked if we wanted salsa and chips, so why not right. Well it tasted and looked like it was tomatoe paste blended with maybe onion or garlic powder, you know you are in Mexico right? Ordered fish which I am pretty sure was frozen and not fresh, and the fillet was so small it took me about three bites to eat, poor Nemo got caught in the freezer. Veggies were ok, rice not bad and the garlic bread was ridiculous and not tasty. Girlfriend ordered a sandwich which was not tasty or fresh, and fries were cooked in old oil. But she did enjoy her coffee. Nice decor, and when we asked how business was, got the old you know up and down. With that food, yikes and cash only of course, so no credit card or taxes to Mexico or the US.... Lol.
Las Pinatas is one block from the beach on Madero (take a right at OXXO) in Old Town. Don't be put off if there are only a few people there, this is a relatively new restaurant and that can be a plus if you are tired of crowds, loud music and beach prices. There are three shaded tables on the sidewalk, but it is very nice inside. The food is great and very inexpensive. The menu is quite large and contains a large variety. I live two blocks away and have stopped by numerous times. Tonight I had Steak Volcanes. Such a simple thing, but so delicious. Lightly grilled tortillas topped with steak, cheese and grilled onions. Sides included diced red onion, radishes, cilantro and a tiny cup of salsa verde. Delicious! My friend had a shrimp cocktail thick with avocado and camerones. She said it was one of the best she has ever had. I suggest you give Las Penitas a try. Delicious food and easy on the wallet!
