However, the menu is very limited (options of 3 mains) so we were surprised that both of the mains (swordfish and veal) and both of the desserts (asparagus and rhubarb) that each of us ordered were not that good. The apps were great, but when you have so few options on the menu we thought that they would all be excellent, especially given the price.
Loved the creative menu items, presented beautifully with great attention to detail, and of course delicious. Delightful amuse bouche along with multiple bread options were a bonus to the starters (my husband had a mushroom declination with pork belly, I had a snow crab salad with an amazing shogun vinaigrette), the walleye main accented with fennel and banana, and desserts of a limequat explosion and a maple meringue delicacy. Guilherme, Thierry, and Samirah were delightful, professional and personable servers always ready to top off our wine or water glass, as well as provide a complete explanation of each course served. The atmosphere at Chez Muffy was lovely with tranquil music, a cozy fire and comfortable surroundings.
This restaurant has excellent food quality in a very nice atmosphere right in the heart of Old Quebec City. But, be aware that they charge $120 (CA) for their fixed price menu (drinks are extra). We were very impressed, however, with how receptive manager Jean-Francois Bedard was about our feedback that it would be helpful to be more transparent and upfront in any marketing they do about their price structure. He offered us a very nice complimentary breakfast the next day, which was delicious, and we felt was a very nice touch! So, again, if you're good with splurging for an excellent meal, enjoy!
We dined there without having done any research so I put the blame on myself for not being perfectly satisfied. But I was disappointed that the fixed-price menu of 120 pp didn’t include a glass of wine, which was minimum 20. And there were only 3 entree choices, one of which was an additional 35. The quality of the food was very good, though and the service was excellent. Just be prepared to spend a lot of money
The best breakfast! Very attentive, historic location, highly recommend! Big variety of everything! Best benedict I ever had!!!
