Seriously, it has been a long time since the last time we three went out. Off to Mesa, we did. Mom really enjoyed the pork belly in Sinigang in Guava and Pineapple and Pomelo Salad, my sister her Blue Marlin and Baked Scallops with Garlic Butter and me? Pork Sisig. I'm almost always happy and content with sisig. But it was really the Sinigang that stole the limelight. Mom, knowing that she doesn't actually go to Filipino restaurants, fell in love with the dish. You know the rule: If Moms are happy, everyone is happy.
Had dinner here last night after a tiring day because i was craving for sinigang na baboy. Ordered sinigang and crispy tadyang. Their sinigang was amazing. I was hesitant at first because i tried sinigang with guava years ago and i didnt like it. But theirs was superb, it was sour but in a satisfying way. Definitely a must of youre cravibg for sinigang. Crispy tadyang was also good. Super soft, even the tendons are cooked well. 4 star because service was kinda slow. To be fair there were a lot of customers. But when we were supposed to order and two staffs were pointing at each other as to who's gonna take our order, in front of us, it kinda put me off. Other than that, it was all good.
After a month in the US, Mesa was at the top of my mind for endulging myself on Filipino entrees that are perfect with RICE! Karekare, sisig in a pouch and 2way laing are among those that stood out on my list and really loved them. Staff are friendly and attentive so overall it was a very good dining experience for me.
I order almost same food items when I visit. The kare-kare, adobo and kaldereta have been my top 3 faves in this restaurant. The turon is tasty for dessert.
Mesa is our favorite filipino restaurant in the Tomas Morato/ Scout area we always bring balikbayan friends and relatives here because we know they won’t get disappointed. Quality of their food is consistent and prices are reasonable. Definitely value for money! Our favorites here, which you shouldn’t miss, are the baked scallops with garlic butter, crispy boneless tilapia with 4 sauces (we always order two of this! , sizzling blue marlin, crispy boneless crispy pata, their crabs, pinakbet, beef kare kare and baby squid in olive oil!!! Cap your meal with halo-halo, guinomis or cassava cake
