One of their most popular items is the buttermilk pancakes, which are a bit heavy but not overly buttery in taste. They offer a variety of pancake syrups including old-fashioned, blueberry, strawberry, and one of my personal favorites, butter pecan. Another delicious menu item is the banana split sundae, which is fragrant with delicious bananas and strawberries, and creamy rich ice cream. The portions are large and worth the price. The overall dining experience is fantastic and the servers are very accommodating.
The ihop uptown location is still going strong. I visited for breakfast today and overall had a good experience with the food and affordable prices. However, the kitchen service left much to be desired as our food took a while to arrive even though the restaurant was not busy. Additionally, the staff was not attentive enough to accommodate my specific request for French toast. Some improvements are needed in terms of service. My tip would be to work on improving the kitchen service and staff attentiveness to enhance the overall dining experience.
Known for their pancakes, this place serves breakfast all day. One of their bestsellers are pancakes. Made from buttermilk, a bit heavy though and not so buttery in taste. They offer a variety of pancake syrups from the old-fashioned, blueberry, strawberry, and one of my personal favorite, butter pecan. Their Banana Split Sundae, is quite flavorsome as well. The banana and strawberry are tasty, the ice cream, cold and creamy and rich in flavor. Serving portions are huge which is appropriate for their prices. The overall dining experience is amazing. Our servers were quite accommodating as well.
IHOP UP Town is still going strong. I went here for breakfast today. This is about my 5th time here, but I've not had the chance to review it. About damn time, huh? It's strategically located at the center despite it being in the original building of UP Town; I've seen a few whose locations weren't as appealing after traffic got diverted post the two-building expansion. Overall, I had a very good experience with the food, noting that the prices are really good and not unreasonable. But the kitchen service left much to be desired; our food arrived 30 minutes after we ordered. And the place wasn't even half full. So boo on the kitchen service. Plus the dine in staff weren't proactive enough to manage us in that (and my specific request to advance what could be done early like french toast) respect. TIPS: + MUST ORDER: Corn beef hash. Awesome. Garlic rice and eggs of your choice. Under P300. They have other Filipino all day breakfast dishes all under P300. + Unli Coffee for under P100! For coffee junkies. + 30 minutes thereabouts appears to be the norm here (compared to BGC which is 15 to 20), hey I'm just managing your expectations. ???? IHOP, at a Glance: > Food & Beverage: ????????????????1/2 > Service (Dine-In): ???????????????? > Kitchen Service: ???????????? (30 minutes to deliver the food??? ????) ; good thing the food were good. Though the French toast weren't all well done as I requested. > Ambience: ???????????????? (good maintenance despite 2 or 3 years but the poor aircon - 1) > Value for Money: ????????????1/2 OVERALL: ????????????1/2 ___________ > Worth a try - Yes > Worth a return - Sure, coz I'm liking the vibe of UP Town in the am. And lack of traffic. Lunch, afternoon onwards on a weekend? Katipunan??? Fuggedaboudit! ???????????? > VERDICT: While Ihop doesn't have a side (pancakes, French toast, hash brown) I am impressed with, I like their Filipino dishes and some of their products like the ones I reviewed in their BGC (sorry I forget that now but it was more Tex Mex and Western). It's comfort / all day breakfast food that's got its own niche here. Back in 2013, I had my worries about its long term viability vs strong-and-steady Pancake House. But I'd say it looks like it's well managed by the CPK guys, positioning it a bit more upscale than Pancake House, I think. This branch does need tweaking in the kitchen, though, but I told the manager that, so I hope they do step that up.
